We are truly sorry to hear about the abuse you've endured and the impact it has had on your life. It's important to remember that the Bible tells us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16 WEB), so your caution is not unfounded. However, we also want to encourage you not to let past experiences hinder your ability to trust and connect with others.
Firstly, we want to address the fact that you called on the name of Jesus. It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father, and it is only by His name that we can be saved. As the Bible says, "in no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, through which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12 WEB). So, your faith in Jesus is the first step towards healing and restoration.
The Bible tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2 WEB). This means that with God's help, you can overcome negative thoughts and memories. It's a process, but it's possible. We encourage you to fill your mind with God's word and promises. Remember, God sees you as precious and loved (Isaiah 43:4 WEB), and He wants to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).
In regards to your relationships with others, the Bible tells us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). This means that we should be cautious in our close relationships, seeking to connect with fellow believers who share our values and faith. This does not mean we should isolate ourselves from the world which would be a good rebuke for being a hermit or recluse.
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for being a friend to the friendless and a healer to the brokenhearted. We lift up this dear soul to You, asking that You would heal their hurts, erase the painful memories, and fill their heart with Your peace and joy. Help them to truly smile again, Lord, not just outwardly, but from the depths of their heart.
Guide them to trust more and to discern the hearts of others, yet to be cautious and not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Give them the wisdom to choose their friends and relationships wisely, always seeking Your will and Your glory.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
