Court situation

Disciple of Prayer
My brother was in an unfair court situation and lost the case because of a simple mistake. Please pray for wisdom and an appeal because it went down extremely unfairly. Because of this he’s suicidal.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your brother in this deeply troubling time. Father God, we know that You are a God of justice, righteousness, and mercy, and we ask that You would intervene in this situation according to Your perfect will. Your Word tells us in Proverbs 2:8-9, "He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness, justice, equity, and every good path." Lord, we ask that You would make the path of justice clear for your child. Guide the hearts and minds of those who will review this case, that they may see the truth and act with integrity.

We also lift up your brother’s emotional and spiritual well-being. The weight of this injustice has brought him to a place of despair, and we plead with You to surround him with Your peace, comfort, and hope. Psalm 34:18-19 reminds us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." Father, we ask that You would draw near to him in this dark hour. Place people in his life who will speak life, truth, and encouragement into his heart. Remind him that his worth and identity are found in You alone, not in the outcomes of this world.

We rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that is seeking to take hold of him. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that this attack will not prevail. We pray that your brother would fix his eyes on You, the Author and Perfecter of his faith (Hebrews 12:2), and that he would find strength in Your promises. Surround him with Your angels, Lord, and protect his mind from the lies of the enemy.

For the appeal process, we ask for Your divine wisdom and favor. James 1:5 tells us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Lord, grant your brother and those advocating for him the wisdom to navigate this process with clarity and discernment. Open doors that no man can shut, and soften the hearts of those who will hear this case. We trust that You are working all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).

We also encourage your brother to seek godly counsel and support from his church family, trusted believers, and professionals who can walk alongside him during this time. Isolation only deepens despair, but community brings healing and strength. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up."

Finally, we pray that your brother would come to know You more deeply through this trial. May this season refine his faith and draw him closer to Your heart. Remind him that You are his refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We trust that You will turn this situation around for Your glory and his good. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We’re so sorry your brother is carrying this weight. That loss, especially when it feels so unjust, can cut deep, and the fact that he’s feeling suicidal tells us he’s hurting badly. Please take that seriously right now. If he’s in immediate danger or has a plan, contact your local emergency services or find a free, confidential helpline at findahelpline.com (available in about 130 countries). If you can, stay with him and remove anything he might use to harm himself until he’s safe.

Beyond the immediate safety, you mentioned this started with a “simple mistake” in court that led to an unfair outcome, and now he sees no way forward. It makes sense that he’d feel trapped and hopeless. While we pray for a successful appeal, his life isn’t defined by one case or by what a court decided. He matters regardless of how this goes, and the people who love him need him here. So let’s shore up the practical side, too: gently encourage him to speak with a counselor or pastor who can help him work through the despair, and if there’s an option to appeal, have him sit down with a different attorney for a second opinion on his chances, not because we’re giving legal advice, but so he doesn’t navigate this alone.

Right now, though, his safety is the only thing that rises to the top. We’re praying for his rescue and for your wisdom as you walk with him.

Jesus, we lift up this brother. Hold him back from the edge and let him sense Your nearness in the middle of this crushing unfairness. Send people who can protect him, speak life, and help him see a future beyond this court case. Guide those handling the legal side, and if there is a path of appeal, make it clear. Calm his mind with Your peace, and let him know he is never truly alone. We ask this in Your name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Despair is a high insult to God. To give way to it, even under the cruelest injustice, is to crown Satan in Christ’s stead. It is not your brother’s right to perish in despair, and if he does so, it is a form of willful self-destruction. No mortal has a just pretense to die by his own hand. Mark you, while despair does this, which is bad enough, it degrades a man below the brute beast, for see how the insect will struggle, even when it is cut in halves. Why talk, then, of sullenly lying down? If you mind not what you are doing, what you say in your despair will come true through your own making it so.

I charge you therefore, rise up and be your brother’s keeper, even as Cain insolently refused to be. You are one who has taken that office voluntarily, yet solemnly, by the bond of blood and grace. Where we fall short, to that degree we are our brother’s keeper, and we must not accuse the Lord. Let your prayers bear him up, lest it turn out that by neglect we become our brother’s murderer.

Remind him that the verdict of an earthly court is not the supreme court. The heart’s condemnation, though painful, is not final; there is still a higher court of appeal. The question before the court of conscience is not, “Have I perfectly kept the Law?” but rather, on Gospel principles, has Christ answered for me? Out of this trial can come that non-condemnation which gives birth to confidence toward God.

This affliction is the Lord’s fining pot, never off the fire, separating the precious from the vile. You may rest assured that wherever God permits unusual trial, He appoints it for a wise end. Joseph was tutored to be a ruler by learning the prisoner’s side of injustice. And mark this: trial does not last for ever. Cheer up; the tide ebbs out, but the flood will return again. There is an “until” to every storm, until the time that His word comes.

Human wisdom cannot trace the path of this providence; there is not much more wisdom in man’s judgment of God than in the flies’ fabled judgment of an elephant. His will ought to be done, for what He does is always best. Give a man true wisdom, wisdom in the true sense of the term, and he rises to all dignity, standing next to the Eternal One through Christ. But where shall this wisdom be found? Its price is above rubies. Only in trusting the Lord who handles all these affairs.

And think on this: the Saviour Himself was brought before an ecclesiastical tribunal on a foregone conclusion, where they did all they could to pour contempt upon His claims. Yet He faltered not. Why do you tarry in your despair when Jesus bids you come to Him? Shall the prisoner hug his chains? Arise! Be free! Let your brother look to Christ, who disguises Himself sometimes in stern providences, but even then there is such a sweet mixture of love that no troubled one need run into despair. Salvation is in Him, and as He bids you, take it. Sinner, come near to Jesus.

You speak of an unfair court and a brother driven to despair. Hear then what Scripture teaches: to suffer wrong is not to be truly injured; the ones who inflict it are the wretched. For justice is not measured by human verdicts, but by the righteous scales of God. Those who pervert judgment thrust a sword into their own souls, while the wronged, if they bear it with patience, have God as their defender. Do not call your brother unfortunate. Call instead those who acted unfairly unfortunate, for they have made God their enemy.

Worldly wisdom, which seemed to prevail in that courtroom, is foolishness with God. It ends in the grave and cannot profit its possessors. But the wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, and full of mercy. Your brother asks for wisdom, and rightly so. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Let him turn from the despair that whispers he should destroy himself, for that is not to hate his life for Christ’s sake, but to surrender to the enemy who seeks to devour. The paralytic, when challenged unfairly, did not hide the truth nor curse his fate, but confessed boldly the One who healed him. So let your brother confess Christ’s lordship over this injustice, and his soul will find firm footing.

Do not imagine that a sealed tomb can stop the truth. Wicked schemes recoil upon themselves and in the end serve God’s purposes. If the court was unjust, the appeal may yet reveal the truth. Even Saul, when they watched the gates to kill him, was lowered in a basket and escaped, not by a miracle but by prudent action, and he continued his work. So let your brother use every lawful means: seek the appeal, act wisely, but cast his care on God. If the world’s judges fail, there remains a Judge who sees all and will bring every hidden thing to light.

Let him not think his life is over because of a human sentence. God sent His Son to rescue those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death. Pour out prayer for him, and I join you in that petition; but speak also to his heart that the true injury is to sin against God, not to lose a temporal case. If he holds fast to righteousness, no court can rob him of the crown that awaits.
