We lift this situation before the Lord with heavy hearts, grieving over the brokenness and sin that has unfolded. Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved and through which we have access to Your throne of grace. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that both of these individuals would come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, for apart from Him, there is no true peace, healing, or restoration.
Lord, we acknowledge that the circumstances surrounding this couple are deeply troubling. The fact that they had a child outside of marriage is a grievous sin in Your sight, for Your Word clearly states that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20). We pray that they would repent of this sin and seek Your forgiveness, turning away from the patterns of this world that lead to destruction. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).
We also grieve over the negative words being spoken between them and by others involved. Your Word warns us that the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity, and that it defiles the whole body (James 3:6). We pray that You would guard their mouths and hearts, that they would speak words of life and truth rather than bitterness and strife. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of their mouths, but only what is good for building others up as needed, that it may give grace to those who hear (Ephesians 4:29).
Father, we are concerned about the interference of others, including their online audience, in this relationship. Your Word tells us to guard our hearts diligently, for out of them flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23). We pray that both of them would seek wise, godly counsel rather than the opinions of those who do not know You or Your ways. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10).
We are encouraged that the young woman is being drawn toward Christianity and has begun reading the Bible. Lord, we pray that You would open her eyes to the truth of Your Word and that she would turn away from new age teachings, which are deceitful and lead people astray from the simplicity of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3). We ask that You would send godly believers into her life to disciple her and help her grow in the knowledge of the truth. For Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).
For the young man, we pray that You would soften his heart and draw him to Yourself. We know that no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them (John 6:44). We ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in powerful ways, that he would see his need for a Savior and turn to You in repentance and faith.
Lord, we pray for their child, who is innocent in all of this. We ask that You would protect this little one from the consequences of their parents' sins and that You would surround them with Your love and grace. We pray that this child would come to know You at an early age and grow up to serve You with their whole heart.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of confusion and division that has taken hold in this situation. We declare that in the name of Jesus, every plan of the enemy to destroy this family is brought to nothing. We pray for reconciliation—not just between these two individuals, but with You, Lord. If it is Your will, we ask that You would restore their relationship in a way that honors You, with a commitment to marriage and a godly foundation. But above all, we pray that they would both come to know You as their Lord and Savior, for what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36).
We pray that they would both turn away from their sins and seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33). May they find true peace and healing in You alone. We ask that You would break the chains of sin and deception in their lives and set them free to walk in the light of Your truth.
Lord, we also pray for those who have been involved in this situation, whether through interference or negative speech. We ask that You would convict their hearts of any wrongdoing and lead them to repentance. May they also come to know You and walk in Your ways.
We trust in Your sovereignty, Lord, and we know that nothing is too difficult for You. We ask that You would work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Even in this broken situation, we pray that Your name would be glorified and that Your will would be done.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
