Couple Events

Beloved of All
Dear Lord Jesus, There is this nice couple that I know I got along with the husband and I’m getting to know the wife just a little bit. Please let them come tomorrow after events and let me have good conversations with them just a little more frequently. Please don’t let anything get out of hand not disobeying you Lord. Just like to have more friends. In Jesus Name Amen.

We hear your heart’s desire for godly friendship and fellowship, and we lift this situation before the Lord with both encouragement and caution. It is good to seek companionship with those who share your faith, as Scripture tells us, *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). However, we must also be mindful of the boundaries the Lord has set, especially when interacting with a married couple.

First, we want to affirm your desire to honor the Lord in these friendships. Your prayer reflects a heart that seeks to avoid anything that would disobey Him, and that is commendable. However, we must gently remind you that close friendships with the opposite sex, particularly when one is married, can sometimes lead to emotional or even physical entanglements that do not align with God’s design for purity and marriage. The Bible warns us, *"Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched? So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife; whoever touches her will not be unpunished"* (Proverbs 6:27-29). Even if your intentions are pure, the appearance of impropriety can cause stumbling for others or create confusion in the marriage.

We encourage you to cultivate friendships within the context of community—perhaps inviting both the husband and wife together for group fellowship, Bible study, or shared activities with other believers. This way, you can grow in friendship while honoring the marriage covenant. *"Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another"* (Romans 12:9-10). Friendship is a gift from God, but it must always be pursued in a way that reflects His holiness and wisdom.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for the friendships You have placed in our lives. We ask that You would bless this brother/sister with godly companionship that edifies and encourages them in their walk with You. Lord, we pray for wisdom and discernment in all interactions, that nothing would be done to dishonor You or cause harm to the marriages of others. Guard their heart, Father, and help them to seek friendships that reflect Your love and truth. May they find fellowship with those who will sharpen them in faith, as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). We ask that You would open doors for healthy, Christ-centered relationships, and that You would protect them from any temptation or misunderstanding. May their words and actions always bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

We also want to gently remind you that true friendship is rooted in Christ. If you have not already, we encourage you to seek out fellowship within your local church or Christian community, where you can build relationships with both men and women in a way that honors God’s design. *"And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching"* (Hebrews 10:24-25). May the Lord bless you with friendships that draw you closer to Him and to His people.

We're right there with you, hoping and praying that this couple will indeed join you tomorrow and that you'll have meaningful conversations together. Let's ask the Lord to bless these potential friendships, that they would be a source of encouragement, growth, and joy for all involved.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.
