Continue to pray for me and my friend to forgive and reconcile with each other

Disciple of Prayer
Please keep praying for me and my friend to forgive and reconcile with each other. I have decided to give her some time for things to cool down. When I return to the church choir, I pray that there is no anxiety or bitterness. I also pray that with time everything will be okay again.
Also pray for my friend to open her heart and that she will be protected from anxiety or fear and that she is happy

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

We join you in prayer and thank you for sharing your heart with us again, and we praise God that you have come in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We hear your desire for forgiveness and reconciliation with your friend, and your wisdom in giving some time for things to cool down. We also hear your concern about returning to the church choir without anxiety or bitterness, and your loving prayer for your friend's heart, her peace, and her joy. This desire to forgive and to be at peace honors God.

Scripture calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven. As it is written, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15. And again, Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32. We are also taught to bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Colossians 3:13.

Your decision to allow time is understandable, and it can be wise to let strong emotions settle so that you can approach one another with gentleness and humility. At the same time we encourage you not to let time become delay or avoidance, for we are told, Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath. Ephesians 4:26, and If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24. True reconciliation requires humility from both sides, and we pray you will be ready when the Lord opens the door to speak the truth in love.

We also lift up your return to the choir. Your service in worship should be done with a pure heart, free from anxiety and bitterness, for God seeks worship in spirit and in truth. We pray that your time in the choir will be a place of healing and not of tension. The Lord promises peace when we bring our anxieties to Him, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We pray that peace will guard both your heart and your friend's heart.

We also remember the word, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18. You are doing your part by praying, forgiving, and desiring peace, and we trust God to work in your friend's heart in His timing.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, in Jesus' name we come before You together and thank You for Your mercy and forgiveness toward us. We lift up our sister and her friend to You. Lord, we ask that You soften both hearts and help them to forgive one another fully, holding nothing back, as You have forgiven us in Christ. Remove all bitterness, resentment, and anxiety, and replace it with Your love, kindness, and tenderheartedness. Lord, protect our sister as she returns to the choir, let her worship You with freedom and joy, without fear or heaviness, and let her be a light of Your peace there. We also pray for her friend, that You would open her heart, calm any fear or anxiety within her, guard her mind in Christ Jesus, and fill her with Your joy and happiness that comes from knowing You. Lord, in Your perfect timing, bring reconciliation between them, restore their friendship stronger than before, and let their unity be a testimony of Your grace in the church. Give them both wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent, and give them humble and gentle spirits. We trust that with time and with Your hand, all things will be made well according to Your will. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We appreciate you letting us pray with you in this tender situation. It is clear how much this friendship and your place in the choir matter to you, and wanting to return without anxiety or bitterness shows care for her and for the Lord's work there.

Giving her some space while things cool down sounds wise and kind. It allows the intensity to settle for both of you. We have found it helps to remember that forgiveness often begins as a quiet decision to release what is owed, even while the feelings of hurt take longer to soften. Reconciliation is related but different, it needs two willing hearts, so we can be faithful with our part and entrust the outcome to God.

It makes sense you are praying against anxiety and bitterness as you think about coming back. When hurt is left to sit it tends to harden and weighs most heavily on the one carrying it, and worrying about seeing someone again can stir up both thoughts and physical tension.

A gentle next step while you wait might be to keep praying briefly for her by name each day for peace and joy, and before you return let your choir director know you plan to come back so you have one supportive person aware. Having a simple, kind greeting in mind for that first Sunday can also help that moment feel steadier.

Father, we bring this friendship to You in Jesus name. Soften any hurt in both hearts, guard our friend and her friend from fear and bitterness, and guide each next step according to Your will. Give calm and freedom as she returns to the choir to serve You, and grow joy and healing in Your timing. Amen.

It's amazing, I sing soprano and we sing traditional Anglican choral music. My friend who I fell out with is the parish Organist. I have been in the choir since the start of January. I love singing it makes me happy but I don't want something that has happend for me to stop singing.

Your longing for forgiveness and reconciliation is itself a gracious work, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord.

There is forgiveness with God, and that truth must be our starting place. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He who blotteth out thy transgressions, and it is surprising and complete. However great the breach has been between you and your friend, remember how much you have been forgiven in Christ. He not only forgave us at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive, and His forgiveness is eternal. Because we have in Him such full forgiveness, we are called to copy the pattern set before us, even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. It is a joint work of mutual forgiveness, and members of Christ's body should take large shares in it. To forgive as we have been forgiven is not degrading but gloriously ennobling, for revenge is paltry and forgiveness is great minded.

You have wisely decided to give some time for things to cool down. When you return to the choir, pray that the Lord will keep you from anxiety and bitterness. Anxiety, as you have heard, does not bring any grist to the mill or meal to the barrel, and the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Our Savior would have us not be fretted and worried by external things, but to cast our care upon Him. And concerning bitterness, there is a blessed exchange in the gospel. When we have felt the bitterness of our own sin against Christ, and seen how sweet He is to us in pardoning it, that bitterness takes away all bitterness against our fellow men. We say within ourselves, after this I must be sweet, gentle, kind, tender and forgiving towards others, for how much I offended God and yet He has forgiven me.

We will continue to pray for you and for your friend, that the Lord would open her heart, keep you both from anxiety and fear, and make you truly happy in His peace. May He guard your hearts from any root of bitterness, give you meekness and love toward one another, and in His good time restore the fellowship you have enjoyed, so that when you stand again to sing His praises together there is no hindrance but only joy in serving Him.

We ask the Father to work reconciliation according to His will, to clothe you both with humility and grace, and to let all be done for His glory through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we pray, Amen.
