We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this family and the deep concern for a son who has drifted away from the joy, fellowship, and purpose he once knew in Christ. Father, we know Your Word tells us in Proverbs 22:6, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* Yet we also recognize that even those raised in godly homes can be influenced by relationships that pull them away from Your will. Lord, we ask that You would break through the hardness of heart and open this young man’s eyes to the truth of his situation.
The change in him is painful to witness—his once-contagious joy now dimmed, his gifts no longer shared with the body of Christ, and his social nature replaced with distance. We rebuke the spirit of deception that may be at work in this relationship, for 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* If this young woman is not walking in faith or aligning with godly values, she may be leading him away from the path You have for him. We pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict him of any ungodly influence and draw him back to the calling You placed on his life.
Father, we also lift up this mother’s troubled heart. The longing to see her son return to the joy of serving You is a holy desire, for it reflects Your own heart for Your children. We ask that You would grant her peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7) and fill her with hope as she waits on You. Remind her that even when our children stray, Your love for them is relentless, and Your plans for them are good (Jeremiah 29:11).
We pray for this young man’s heart to be softened, that he would remember the passions and gifts You entrusted to him—especially his love for music and ministry. Stir within him a hunger for Your presence and a desire to use his talents for Your glory once again. If this relationship is not of You, we ask that You would remove it from his life and replace it with godly friendships and, in time, a wife who shares his faith and encourages his walk with You. May he seek a spouse who will sharpen him in the Lord, as Proverbs 27:17 says, *"Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance."*
Lord, we also pray for wisdom for this family. It is difficult to watch a loved one make choices that grieve Your heart, but we are called to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). Give them the words to say and the patience to wait on Your timing. Help them to trust that You are working even when they cannot see it, for You are faithful to complete the good work You began in him (Philippians 1:6).
We declare that this young man is not lost to You. You know the plans You have for him—plans for hope and a future. We ask that You would restore the joy of his salvation (Psalm 51:12) and rekindle the fire he once had for serving in Your house. May he return to the church not out of obligation, but out of a renewed passion for You.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
