colitis

We hear your heart for your neighbor and lift them up before the Lord with deep compassion. Colitis is a heavy burden, both physically and emotionally, and we stand with you in intercession for their healing and comfort.

The Scriptures remind us that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare His healing power over your neighbor, trusting that He is able to restore what has been afflicted. Jesus Himself bore our infirmities and carried our diseases (Isaiah 53:4-5), and we claim that truth over their body today.

Lord, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your divine touch upon our neighbor. Ease their pain, soothe their inflammation, and grant them strength in their weakness. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them feel Your presence in the midst of this trial. Father, we also pray for wisdom for their doctors and caregivers, that they would be guided by Your hand in every decision.

We rebuke the spirit of infirmity in Jesus’ name, declaring that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). May they experience Your grace in abundance, and may their faith grow as they see Your faithfulness in this season. Remind them, Lord, that You are their healer (Exodus 15:26) and that nothing is too difficult for You (Jeremiah 32:17).

We also encourage you, as their friend, to be a tangible expression of Christ’s love to them. Visit them, pray with them, and speak life into their situation. Let them know they are not alone, for You are with them always (Matthew 28:20).

May the Lord bless your neighbor with complete healing and restoration, and may they come to know the depth of His love in a new way through this trial. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We were moved to read your note and see your care for your neighbor during such a hard season. It says a lot that you are carrying them in prayer when they are worn down.

Colitis can be an especially discouraging illness to live with. It often comes and goes, with good stretches and then difficult flares, and that unpredictability can leave a person feeling fragile and tired, and even isolated from normal life and community. Knowing someone nearby notices and cares can mean more than we realize.

If it feels natural, a few simple ways to come alongside them can help. Let them know you are praying for them by name and that you will keep praying. A brief visit, a text to check in, or a small practical help like a meal or an errand when they are not feeling well can communicate care without putting pressure on them to explain everything. If they are open to it, asking gently if you could pray briefly with them, or if there is a specific need they would like prayer for, often brings comfort. And as you support them, continue to encourage them to stay connected to their medical care for guidance through this.

Father, we lift this neighbor to you. You see their pain and weariness and you know every detail of what they are facing. We ask for your comfort and strength for each day, for wisdom for those caring for them, and for your peace to rest on their home. Sustain our friend as they love their neighbor well. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a gracious work of God when He writes intercession upon a human heart, and your prayer for your neighbor in affliction is evidence of that work. There is no power like that of intercession, for the secret springs that move the affairs of earth are often the prayers of God's believing people. You have done well to bring this suffering one before the throne of grace and to seize every advantage in pleading with God for mercy.

We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they are painful and urge us to seek a physician for healing, and how much more should we carry such pains to the great Physician. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and even the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. He is the Sun of Righteousness risen with healing in His wings, and when He healed the man sick of the palsy He first said, Thy sins are forgiven thee, showing that pardon and healing are joined together in His hand. Calvary is the place for the healing balm, and from that great conduit Head abundant streams of healing flow down to men below.

Let us pray together for your neighbor who suffers with this grievous infirmity of the body and who passes through a very rough season. May the Lord lay His hand upon this afflicted body and grant relief and strength where human skill can do so little. May He who healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds also heal the inward distress which so often attends long sickness and trouble. May this trial be sanctified to draw the soul nearer to Christ, that both body and spirit may know His restoring power.

Persevere in this blessed work of intercession. It is part of our Saviour's priestly office to make intercession for His people within the veil, and when we pray for our fellow sufferers we are in sympathy with Him who made intercession for the transgressors. Samuel said, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you, and so let us not cease. The Holy Spirit helpeth our infirmities and maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered, and He will teach us to pray as we ought. Pursue your neighbor with persistent intercession, even as you have begun, trusting that the Lord hears the cry of His people.

May the Lord hear your supplication and grant to your neighbor pardon and healing through our Lord Jesus, and may you be comforted as you watch the fruit of prayer. We join our prayers with yours at the mercy seat, asking that Christ may be magnified both in affliction and in deliverance.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your compassion for your neighbor in this painful season reflects the heart of Christ, who has compassion on those who suffer and does not turn away from those in need.

We join you in praying for your neighbor. Colitis can bring such prolonged pain and weariness, and when it comes with other hardships it can feel overwhelming. We ask the Lord to show mercy, to ease suffering, to grant wisdom to doctors and caregivers, and to bring comfort and strength day by day.

We pray also that in this rough time your neighbor would know the nearness of God and the hope we have in Jesus Christ, who ever lives to make intercession for us. He hears our prayers and He knows our infirmities, and He is able to save and to sustain to the uttermost those who come to God through Him.

Thank you for not only praying but for noticing and caring. Continue to show that practical mercy as you are able, with a kind word, a visit, or help with daily needs. Such love for a neighbor is itself a light and a blessing, and God delights to show mercy to the merciful.

Let us pray together:

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear neighbor to You. You see this illness and this rough time. Have compassion and bring healing according to Your will, relieve pain, restore strength, and grant peace that passes understanding. Draw this one close to Yourself, give comfort in distress, provide for every need, and let Your love be clearly known. Sustain also the one who has brought this request, and help us all to love You and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this burden for your neighbor. Your care for someone going through such a difficult time with colitis is a beautiful reflection of the love God puts in our hearts.

True compassion is not something we can manufacture on our own. It is a work of God within us. When He gives us a genuine burden for another person, that love becomes the foundation for real intercession. Your willingness to pray and to stand in the gap for your neighbor shows that God is already at work in you, giving you His heart for those who are suffering. That is the secret behind all faithful prayer, a deep love and concern that comes from Him.

You can be comforted to know that Jesus sees your neighbor completely. Nothing about this condition or this rough season is hidden from Him. Throughout the Gospels, whenever Jesus saw people in need, He was moved with compassion. He did not look away from suffering. He was willing to reach out and touch those others avoided, and His compassion was always joined with power to help. We may at times feel compassion yet have no power in ourselves to heal, but Jesus both cares deeply and is able to act.

We do believe that God heals, and we pray earnestly for that healing for your neighbor. Healing can come in different ways. Sometimes it is immediate, and sometimes it is gradual through the natural processes God Himself designed and built into our bodies. Every healing process is from Him, and His work is not limited to the physical body alone. He also brings healing to the mind and heart, comforting, strengthening, and restoring in the midst of prolonged illness. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer road, but we trust the One who is both compassionate and wise and we bring every need to Him.

In praying for your neighbor you are living out what it means to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus taught that our neighbor is simply the person in distress whom God places before us, the one in need. To love that person as we love ourselves means to want for them the same care, relief, and mercy we would want for ourselves, and to show that love in practical mercy and in faithful prayer. You have done that by noticing, caring, and interceding.

We join you in praying for your neighbor now. We ask the Lord to look upon him with His tender compassion, to ease the pain and inflammation of this illness, to grant wisdom to those providing care, and to bring both physical healing and deep peace through this rough time. We also pray that through your kindness and prayers, your neighbor would experience the sympathetic understanding of Jesus, who knows our weaknesses and meets us in our needs. May the Lord continue to give you His compassion and sustain you as you continue to intercede, knowing that Jesus Himself lives to intercede for us and invites us to share in that ministry of love.
