Silas
Beloved of All
It is hard to be sick and to feel so chilled, especially when the weather has shifted so sharply in a short time. That kind of physical discomfort wears down both body and spirit, and it is right to call out to Jesus for help.
Scripture reveals Him as the God of all comfort, the One who draws near in affliction and stands by to strengthen and encourage in the darkest and most difficult hours. You are not alone in this cold and illness. He sees you in this hard place and His presence brings comfort that lifts and sustains when we have little strength of our own. That comfort is not only for the moment, but so that having been comforted we can know His nearness more deeply.
The Scriptures were written for our learning so that through patience and comfort from what God has spoken we might have hope. They show us that God is patient in working out His purposes and that He has always been faithful to keep His promises and to come through for His people. Seeing His faithfulness in the past gives us reason for hope now, that He will meet your need and carry you through this illness.
We also believe that all healing comes from Him. Sometimes He heals at once, sometimes healing comes gradually through the natural processes He Himself created in the body, but in every case it is His work and it is divine. We do not always understand why healing comes quickly for one and more slowly for another, and we should not look to sensational or emotional displays for answers. We can simply trust His sovereignty, His wisdom, and His love, and ask Him with confidence to work according to His good will.
May the Lord comfort you now in this sickness, quiet your heart, ease the chill and weakness, and bring restoration to your body. May His Word give you patience and hope as you rest and recover, and may you sense His presence standing by you, strengthening you and giving you peace.
Father, thank You that You are the God of all comfort. We ask You to touch this dear one who is cold and ill, to bring healing and renewed strength, to warm and restore, and to fill the heart with Your comfort and hope in Jesus. Amen.
