The report of your ###’s diagnosis brings a heavy weight, and we join you in bringing that weight before the Lord. ###, ###, is a stark declaration that the law of sin and death is at work in his flesh. The law can diagnose the condition and pronounce the grim sentence, but it possesses no power to reverse it. The law cannot bring healing or life; it can only show us the depth of our need. But the gospel announces that into this very bondage, a Redeemer has come.
We pray for his complete healing, and that prayer is anchored not in our own merit but in the wounds of Jesus. This is the great exchange. Jesus came under the law, fulfilled it perfectly, and bore its curse, so that by faith we might receive the blessings of the promise. Where the law could only demand, the Spirit now gives life. We are asking that the same power which raised Christ from the dead would course through the earthen vessel of your ###’s body. We hold this treasure in a jar of clay to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
The ministry of Jesus was marked by preaching, teaching, and healing all manner of sickness and disease. That power has not diminished. So we ask the Lord to stand over your ### and rebuke this ###, this ###, that it would leave him. We pray for a manifestation of the Spirit’s anointing for his physical restoration, that the sentence of death would be swallowed up by the life of Christ within him.
Beyond the physical, we pray for the eyes of his heart to see a great light, even if he feels he is sitting in the region and shadow of death. The purpose of light is to shine. May the truth that is in Jesus illuminate his innermost being, driving out fear with the perfect love of Christ. Lavish your presence upon him, Lord, in such a way that he walks in the consciousness of your nearness this very week. Let him feel your nearness and be blessed as you manifest the richness of your love and kindness to him.
We can be surrounded by people motivated by the love of Christ, and we pray that this ### would be upheld by that same love. Whatever you do for him, Lord, we ask that the glory would always go to you, the treasure within the clay pot. May the Holy Spirit open up the word of God and the things of God to his heart, that daily he would rejoice in your goodness, even as he looks to you for his deliverance. We ask for his body to be mended, for his spirit to be sustained, and for your name to be exalted through this fiery trial. Amen.
