Thank you for sharing this update about your mother and for letting us pray with you. Hearing that the cancer has spread from the bladder and kidney to the spine, pelvis and lymph node is a heavy report, especially when conventional treatment is not an option because of side effects and age. It is understandable that this was not expected and is difficult to accept, and we grieve this burden with you.
We join you in praying for healing, and we also join you in praying as you have so wisely expressed, that above all the Lord's will would be done, and that He would grant peace, trust, acceptance, and minimal pain. Scripture speaks of two kinds of peace that we need in a time like this. First there is peace with God, which only comes through Jesus Christ who made peace through His blood on the cross. When we are reconciled to God through Him, the war within is ended. Then there is the peace of God, that deep steady peace that guards our hearts and minds.
That second peace is what the Bible describes as perfect peace for the one whose mind is stayed on the Lord because he trusts in Him, and as the peace that passes all understanding. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world gives. The world cannot understand how a believer can have peace in such difficult and painful circumstances, but it is real. It comes not from trying to feel peaceful, but from keeping our thoughts fixed on Christ and believing His Word, trusting that He is present and that He will take care of what we commit to Him.
In a world filled with turmoil and uncertainty, that peace is available to you and to your mother as you turn your minds toward Him throughout each day. As you keep your eyes on Him, He keeps you. That does not mean the sorrow or the questions disappear, but it means God Himself will guard your hearts and keep you steady in Christ.
We are praying for your mother, for the Lord's mercy and comfort upon her body, for relief from pain, and for His nearness to be very real to her. We are praying for you as her caregiver, for strength, for rest, and for the peace of God to fill your home. We also lift up the financial burden you mentioned. The loss your mother has experienced and the reality that you cannot work full time while caring for her is a heavy weight. God knows your needs completely and He cares about every practical detail. We pray He will provide for your daily needs and open doors of help and supply according to His riches in Christ.
May the God of hope fill you both with joy and peace in believing, as you trust His Word and His character. He has not forgotten you. His thoughts toward you are for peace and for good, and He hears when you call upon Him. We will continue to pray and we welcome you to keep us updated so we can keep standing with you before the Lord.
