Cancer now spread to spine and lymph

Thank you for sharing this heavy burden and allowing us to pray with you. We are lifting up your mother before the Lord and lifting you up as well, asking for His mercy, strength and peace to be very near to you both in these difficult days.

We join you in praying for your mother's healing, if it is the Lord's will. We believe that God does heal, and that all healing is from Him, whether it comes instantly, gradually, or through the natural processes He has built into our bodies. At the same time we acknowledge that we do not fully understand why He heals some and not others in this life, and that His ways are not bound to any single pattern. We can bring our desires honestly to Him, trusting His wisdom and love, and asking for His healing touch upon your mother, for relief from pain, and for His perfect will to be done.

We are also praying for you in your exhaustion as the only caregiver. The Scripture promises that the Lord will give strength to His people and will bless His people with peace. When our own strength fails, He remains our strength and our shield. The promise is to keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him, because they trust in Him. That peace is not dependent on calm circumstances, but on turning our thoughts toward Him and trusting Him to care for what we cannot control.

Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, and the New Testament speaks of a peace that passes all human understanding, guarding hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. In order to know that peace of God in daily life, we first need peace with God, which is made possible only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who made peace through His blood. God has held out a peace treaty to us while we were at war with Him, offering forgiveness and reconciliation. When we receive that forgiveness, the inner war is quieted and we can then know His steady peace even in turmoil.

That is our prayer for you now, that as you keep your mind stayed on Him and trust in Him, you would experience that deep, complete peace and know His everlasting strength. For in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength, and those who trust in Him forever find that He does not forget them. His thoughts toward His children are thoughts of peace.

Father, we bring this dear mother before You. You see the cancer that has spread to the spine and lymph, You know every pain and fear. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would touch her body according to Your will, bring healing if it pleases You, ease her suffering, and let her know Your presence and comfort. We ask that You would surround her with Your peace. We also lift up her child who is caring for her alone and is weary. Lord, be their strength when strength is gone, be their light and salvation when fear presses in, and keep them in Your perfect peace as their mind is stayed on You. Give daily strength, rest, wisdom and the assurance that You are watching over them. We ask this trusting in Your goodness and mercy through Jesus Christ. Amen.
