We hear your heart’s desire to step out in faith and seek God’s guidance for starting a business. It is wonderful that you want the Lord to direct your steps in this endeavor, for "the plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty" (Proverbs 21:5). The Lord delights in blessing His children when they seek to honor Him in their work, as Scripture tells us, "Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed" (Proverbs 16:3).
However, we must also examine our motives and ensure they align with God’s will. Are you seeking this business to glorify Him, provide for your family, and serve others, or is there any hint of greed, selfish ambition, or reliance on worldly success? Jesus warned, "For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?" (Mark 8:36). Let us pray that your heart remains pure before the Lord, that you would not be led astray by the love of money (1 Timothy 6:10), and that your business would be a testimony of His faithfulness.
We also encourage you to seek godly counsel and wisdom from mature believers who can help you discern the Lord’s leading. "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established" (Proverbs 15:22). Surround yourself with those who will pray for you and hold you accountable to biblical principles in your business dealings.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your wisdom and guidance for our brother/sister in this matter of starting a business. Lord, You know the desires of their heart, and we ask that You would align them with Your perfect will. Lead them to the right products to sell, not for their own gain alone, but to bring glory to Your name and to be a blessing to others.
Father, we pray that You would give them discernment to recognize opportunities that honor You and avoid those that would lead them astray. Guard their heart from greed, selfish ambition, or any ungodly motives. May their business be a reflection of Your love, integrity, and provision. Open doors that no man can shut, and close doors that are not of You.
Lord, we ask that You would provide godly mentors and counselors to walk alongside them in this journey. Give them wisdom to make decisions that align with Your Word and bring peace to their spirit. May they always remember that their ultimate success is found in You alone, and may they seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is in His name that we have access to You and find our strength. Amen.

The request itself reveals a right spirit, for you do not ask for riches or a sign of success, but that God would lead you. This is the conviction which must be upon every soul that takes God for its Guide. Naturally, we do not like being guided; we prefer to carve our own path and boast in our own wisdom. But when Grace works upon the heart, we learn to bow with submission to the will of God, and by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Great principles are infused in such a man, principles like this: avoid everything that is evil. If your business demands a lie, or a sharp practice to gain a customer, then you may be certain the Lord has not led you to that door. If the product cannot be sold with a clear conscience before the eye of the Almighty, then flee from it.
Yet there is a deeper matter here. Do not suppose that the chief end of this business is merely to furnish your table or fill your purse. If you make your own business God’s business, you will do your business well and be useful in your day and generation. The Christian’s one business in life is to lead men to believe in Jesus Christ, and every other thing should be made subservient to this one objective. A workshop can be a pulpit; a ledger can be a tract. The product you sell is secondary to the purpose for which you sell it. You need not turn aside from the way of business to serve your Father. If the Lord prospers the work of your hands, let it be your delight to make money for Jesus, to be the father of a church in some destitute locality, to start fresh places of worship. This is a grander work than merely accumulating stock.
Beware of haste, for haste is the author of a great deal of mischief. Sit down in your counting house, as it were, with your pen in your hand, and in the coolest possible manner calculate under the Holy Spirit's guidance. Consider your path soberly. Have you wept over failures in the past where you have not been like your Lord? Then bring that tenderness of conscience to this new venture. Seek that the product, the method, and the motive all bear the stamp of your Father’s business. If you can but get souls saved through your daily interactions, everything else will come right in due time. Seek first the kingdom, and the right products will follow. The sure result of this guidance is not merely a prosperous trade, but that He shall afterward receive you to Glory. Do, then, be about your Father’s business.

You ask God to lead you to the right products for a business, but let your first care be what you gain from the assembly and the sacred writings. For these concern the soul, yet they also rightly direct the present life. Do not let the burdens of house and market load your prayers as though they were the chief thing. Let the instruction you receive be your leading business, and all other employments but occasional. Then, having cleansed yourself of the outer world’s filth, stir at home with what you have heard, and God will guide even your selling as He sees fit.

It is right to seek the Lord’s direction before stepping into something as weighty as your own business. That desire itself shows you understand that your path is not yours alone to chart. Scripture assures us that God knows the end from the beginning. His foreknowledge is complete, meaning He already sees the work He has prepared for you to walk in. When we ask Him to lead us to the right products, we are leaning on His omniscience. He knows what will be profitable in an eternal sense, what will keep your heart upright, and what will genuinely serve others.
Bring this request before Him constantly. Let prayer be the first thing, not an afterthought. As you ask Him to make the way clear, also commit yourself to the diligence He honors. A slack hand leads nowhere good, but the hand of the diligent is blessed. That diligence starts on your knees but then moves into wise research, careful planning, and honest dealings. A just and fair approach in business is never a hindrance in the long run. A false balance is detestable to God, but integrity is His delight. The world may tell you that you have to cut corners to succeed, but a good reputation built on righteousness endures far beyond a quick profit.
This venture is also a place where God wants to shape your character. He has given you everything you need for life and godliness through knowing Jesus Christ. As you walk forward, He will use the pressures and decisions to develop in you the fruit of His Spirit. Add to your faith virtue, knowledge, and self-control. Keep your heart lowly before Him. Pride leads to a fall, but the lowly find wisdom. The ultimate goal is not just to find the right product but to be about your Father’s business. Whatever you end up selling or creating, do it as a servant of Christ, with a fervent spirit, rejoicing in hope, and patient in whatever trials come.
