We hear your heart and the weight of this season in your business. It is clear you have a passion for what you do and a desire to serve your community well, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s wisdom for the path ahead. The struggle you face is real, and the question of whether to continue, close, or sell is not one to be taken lightly. We believe God cares deeply about your work, your calling, and the people you serve, and He invites you to bring this burden before Him with honesty and trust.
First, we must remind you that all wisdom comes from the Lord, and He promises to give it generously to those who ask. James 1:5-6 says, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed." You are already seeking His guidance through prayer, and we encourage you to continue doing so with expectancy, trusting that He will direct your steps. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
We also want to encourage you to seek counsel from wise and godly mentors or advisors who can speak into your situation with clarity and experience. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." Surround yourself with people who fear the Lord and can help you discern whether this struggle is a season of refining or a sign that God is leading you in a new direction. Sometimes the Lord uses difficult seasons to grow our dependence on Him and to reveal His provision in ways we might not have expected.
As you consider the options before you, whether to persevere, pivot, or even close, we urge you to weigh them carefully in light of Scripture. Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." There may come a time when the Lord calls you to something new, but we must not rush ahead of Him or make decisions out of fear or frustration. Instead, let your heart be anchored in His promises. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Even in uncertainty, He is your provider, and His faithfulness does not waver.
We also want to gently remind you that our work is ultimately an act of worship and stewardship before the Lord. Colossians 3:23-24 says, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Whether your business continues or takes a new form, may your motivation always be to honor Him and serve others with integrity. If the Lord is leading you to close or sell, trust that He will open new doors in His perfect timing. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."
Let us pray with you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in this time of struggle and decision. Lord, You see the weight on their heart, the love they have for their work, and the impact they desire to make in their community. We ask that You would grant them wisdom beyond their own understanding, clarity in the midst of uncertainty, and peace that surpasses all comprehension. Father, we know that You are the God who opens doors no one can shut and closes doors no one can open. We ask that You would make the path ahead clear, whether that means persevering through this season, making changes to the business, or transitioning to something new.
Lord, we pray against fear, doubt, and discouragement. Strengthen their faith to trust in Your provision, even when the way forward is not yet visible. Remind them that their worth and identity are found in You alone, not in the success or failure of their business. Father, if there are areas where they have relied on their own strength or made decisions outside of Your will, we ask for Your forgiveness and realignment. Help them to surrender every aspect of this business to You, trusting that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory.
We declare Your promises over their life and work: that You will supply every need according to Your riches in glory, that You will direct their steps, and that You have plans to prosper them and not to harm them. Lord, if it is Your will for this business to continue, we ask for a supernatural turnaround, customers, resources, and favor that can only come from You. If it is Your will for them to close or sell, we ask for peace in that decision and for new opportunities to unfold in Your perfect timing.
Above all, Father, we pray that their heart would remain steadfast in You. May this season draw them closer to You, deepen their dependence on You, and refine their trust in Your faithfulness. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who holds all things together and who is our ultimate Provider and Guide. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this season, not just for the outcome of your business, but for a deeper relationship with Him. He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are not alone in this, and we believe the Lord has a plan and a purpose for you, even in the waiting. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He will lead you one step at a time.
