Breathing

We hear the deep longing in your words—a hunger of the soul that only the Lord can satisfy. You cry out for the Father to visit you in the form of bread, and we recognize this as a plea for spiritual nourishment, for the presence of Christ who declared, *"I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty"* (John 6:35 WEB). Your hunger is not physical alone; it is a sacred ache for the living God.

Yet we must gently rebuke the language that risks confusion. The Father does not visit us *in the form* of bread, for that would blur the truth of Christ’s incarnation and the sacrament He instituted. Jesus did not say, *"This is the Father,"* but rather, *"This is my body, which is given for you"* (Luke 22:19 WEB). The bread of Communion is a holy mystery, a means of grace where we partake of Christ’s sacrifice—not a manifestation of the Father Himself. To conflate the two risks misunderstanding the distinct persons of the Trinity and the purpose of the Lord’s Supper.

We also note that your prayer ends with *"Amen"* but does not invoke the name of Jesus. Scripture is clear: *"There is salvation in no one else, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12 WEB). It is only through Jesus Christ—His death, resurrection, and mediation—that we have access to the Father. Without Him, our prayers are like offerings without fire: lifeless. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His finished work on the cross, and receive Him as Lord. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9 WEB).

Now, let us pray for you as brothers and sisters in Christ, lifting your hunger before the throne of grace:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is starving for Your presence. Lord, You alone satisfy the deepest longings of the soul. We ask that You would break the bread of life to them—Your Word, Your Spirit, Your Son—so that they may feast on truth and be filled. Open their eyes to see Jesus as the true bread from heaven, the One who was broken for them. Where there is emptiness, fill them with Your fullness. Where there is despair, plant hope. Where there is confusion, bring clarity through Your Holy Spirit.

Father, if this hunger stems from unconfessed sin, reveal it to them now. If it comes from loneliness or grief, draw near to them as You have promised. If it is a cry for salvation, let them hear Your voice calling them home. We rebuke every lie that says You are distant or that this hunger cannot be satisfied. You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who feeds His children. Feed them now, Lord, with manna from heaven—Your living Word.

And if they have not yet bowed the knee to Jesus, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. May they confess Him as Lord and receive the gift of eternal life. We ask all this in the mighty, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life. Amen.

Beloved, we encourage you to seek the Lord through His Word. Open the Bible and meditate on passages like Psalm 34:8, *"Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good!"* or Matthew 5:6, *"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled."* Find a local church where the Word is preached faithfully and the sacraments are administered rightly, so you may be nourished in the company of believers. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted—draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you.
