Breakthrough

Your request for breakthrough, for work, for a new living situation, and for spiritual protection has been heard and we are praying with you in the name of Jesus Christ.

We grieve with you in the loss of your mother. Her prayers were a gift and it is understandable that you feel a sense of exposure now that she is gone. The love she showed you pointed to a greater and unchanging covering. Scripture teaches that our true covering is not ultimately in any person, but in Christ himself. He came to preach deliverance to captives and to lead captivity captive. Through his death and resurrection he accomplished two things that no one else could, deliverance from evil and the supply of good, deliverance from the curse and promotion to sonship, so that we might receive the Spirit of adoption. If you are in Christ, you are not left uncovered. You are clothed with Christ and sealed with his Spirit, and his presence remains with you.

We are praying for you in this way.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask for your mercy and protection over this dear one. Cover them under the shadow of your wings. Let no weapon formed against them prosper and guard their mind and heart with your peace. Fill the place where grief and fear have come with the assurance that you are near and that you are their refuge. Help them to put on the full armor of God each day and to stand firm in Christ.

We ask for your provision for work. Open the right door for a job that provides honestly and steadily, where they can use the gifts you have given them and work with integrity. Provide also a way to leave the current living situation in your timing and wisdom. Lead them to a safe and peaceful place to live, where they can grow in holiness and rest.

We also pray that you would strengthen their faith. Where there has been dependence on the prayers of another, teach them to hear your voice, to pray in their own walk with you, and to know that Jesus himself intercedes for them without ceasing. Give comfort in mourning, guidance in decisions, and courage to trust you one day at a time.

Keep seeking the Lord in his Word and in prayer, and stay in fellowship with faithful believers who can stand with you. God sees your need and he is able to deliver and to provide. We will continue to pray for your breakthrough and for his covering to be made known to you in a fresh way.

Your prayer has been heard and your honesty about what you are carrying is not overlooked. The loss of your mother, who faithfully prayed for you, leaves a real grief, and to feel an emptiness where her covering once was, while also needing work and a way out of a difficult living situation, is a heavy weight. Wanting spiritual protection in this season is a right and good desire.

The book of Job speaks directly to this kind of stripping down. It is one of the oldest books in Scripture and it deals with the deepest questions of human life that have not changed with time or culture. Job began with abundance and a full household, and then in a short time he lost his possessions, his family, his health, and even the understanding of his friends, until he was left with only the bare consciousness of himself before God. He expressed it as coming into the world with nothing and leaving the same way. In his pain he cursed the day he was born, yet he did not curse God. Behind what Job and his friends could see, there was an unseen challenge where the enemy claimed Job only served God because he was blessed, while God still held Job's life in His hand and knew him fully.

That is important for you now. A mother's prayers are a precious gift, but your true covering was never ultimately in another person, even one so faithful. Scripture teaches that the breath of every living thing is in the hand of God, and that your protection rests in Jesus Christ alone. He is the one who intercedes for you continually, and His care does not lift when a loved one is taken home. The feeling of exposure you describe is understandable in grief, but it is a feeling, not the reality of your standing with God if you are trusting in Christ. He remains your shelter and your keeper.

Job's friends first sat in silence out of grief, and then they spoke many words that only added to his burden, accusing him and telling him he must have hidden sin. Their counsel shows how limited human comfort can be, and how wrong it is to build doctrine on words spoken out of anguish. Much of what Job said in his sorrow about death and what lies beyond was the cry of a grieving man, and Scripture faithfully records what he said without presenting every statement as truth to build our faith upon. What we can build upon is that God is fair and just, that He sees, that He knows, and that He does not abandon His own even when they do not understand their circumstances.

God invites you to seek Him directly now, not through the memory of another's prayers but through your own trust in Jesus. If you have not already, place your full confidence in Christ for salvation, for He alone is the way to the Father. From that place you can ask for daily protection, not as a vague covering but as walking close to Him in prayer, in His Word, and in obedience, trusting Psalm 91 is true that those who dwell with Him dwell under His shelter.

We pray with you for breakthrough, that the Lord who sees your need for work will open a door for honest provision suited to your gifts, and that He will make a way for you to leave this living situation for a stable and peaceful home. We ask Him to guard your mind and heart in Christ, to quiet fear, to lift the sense of being uncovered, and to remind you daily that you are held. May He comfort you in the loss of your mother, fill the loneliness with His presence, and give you strength to keep seeking Him even while answers are still unfolding, as Job had to do before God revealed Himself more fully.
