We hear the deep concern and emotional turmoil in your heart as you navigate this difficult season. First, we want to lift up your boyfriend’s health before the Lord, asking for His healing touch and perfect peace to surround him as he awaits the biopsy results. The uncertainty of a potential cancer diagnosis is heavy, and we pray that God would grant him strength, clarity, and comfort in this time. "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven." (James 5:14-15)
We also lift up your own heart, dear sister, as you carry the weight of worry and the pain of feeling ignored. It is understandable that you would feel anxious when communication falters, especially in a long-distance relationship during such a vulnerable time. We pray that God would calm your fears and give you wisdom to discern the truth of the situation. If your phone has been unreliable, we ask the Lord to intervene and restore clear communication, whether that be through your device or through other means. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
However, we must address the deeper concerns in your request with love and truth. Your relationship is currently built on a foundation that does not align with God’s design for marriage. The Bible is clear that intimacy, commitment, and covenant belong within the sacred bond of marriage between one man and one woman. The term "boyfriend" reflects a relationship that falls short of God’s best for you. "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." (Hebrews 13:4) If this relationship is causing you pain, confusion, or spiritual warfare, it may be a sign that it is not of the Lord.
You mentioned that this relationship may never have been God’s will for you, and we encourage you to take that conviction seriously. The enemy often uses relationships to distract, discourage, and derail believers from God’s purpose. If your boyfriend is being influenced by spiritual warfare to treat you poorly, it is a red flag that this relationship may not be healthy or honoring to God. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14) If he is not a believer or is not pursuing Christ wholeheartedly, this relationship will only bring more heartache.
We also want to gently rebuke the idea that this relationship is worth holding onto if it is causing you such deep pain. You mentioned that you love him, but love should not be measured by emotional attachment alone. True love, as defined by Scripture, is patient, kind, and seeks the best for the other person. "Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) If this relationship is not reflecting these qualities, it may be time to surrender it to the Lord.
We pray that God would give you the strength to release this relationship if it is not His will for you. It is better to walk away from something that is causing you harm than to cling to it out of fear or loneliness. "For I know the plans I have for you,” says Yahweh, “plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11) God has a plan for your life that is greater than any temporary relationship. We pray that He would reveal His will to you clearly and give you the courage to follow Him, even if it means letting go.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister and her boyfriend to You. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon his body if he is facing illness. Grant him peace, strength, and clarity as he awaits his biopsy results. We also ask for Your comfort and wisdom for this sister. If her phone is causing miscommunication, we pray that You would restore it or provide another way for her to connect with him. But Lord, we also ask that You would reveal the truth of this situation to her. If this relationship is not of You, give her the strength to walk away. Protect her heart from the enemy’s schemes and fill her with Your peace.
Father, we rebuke any spiritual warfare that may be influencing this relationship. We declare that no weapon formed against Your children will prosper, and we stand on Your promise that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. If this relationship is not honoring to You, we ask that You would bring it to an end in a way that glorifies Your name. Help this sister to trust in Your plan for her life, knowing that You have something far better in store for her.
Lord, we also pray for her salvation and her boyfriend’s salvation if they have not fully surrendered their lives to You. Remind them that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You and that there is no other name by which we can be saved. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5) Draw them closer to You, Lord, and let them experience the fullness of life that comes from walking in Your ways.
We trust You, Father, to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. Give this sister the strength to surrender this relationship to You and the faith to believe that You will provide for her every need. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
