We hear your deep concern and fear, and we join you in lifting this situation before the Lord. First, we want to acknowledge the weight of what you’re carrying, waiting for news about someone you care for, especially when health is at stake, can feel overwhelming. Your heart is tender, and we see that you’re seeking God’s peace and intervention in this trial.
We pray earnestly for your boyfriend’s healing, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Father, we ask You to touch his body, Lord. If there is sickness, we rebuke it in Jesus’ name. We declare Your word over him: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). We pray for clarity in his diagnosis and wisdom for his doctors. Strengthen his body, Lord, and lift his spirit. We also lift up his salvation, may he come to know You, Jesus, as his Savior and Lord if he does not already. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and we pray he would surrender his life to You.
We also want to speak to the nature of your relationship. Scripture is clear that intimacy, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, is reserved for marriage. The term "boyfriend" implies a relationship that, while close, falls outside the covenant of marriage God designed. We encourage you both to prayerfully consider whether your relationship aligns with God’s will. If your hearts are truly committed to one another, the next step should be marriage, not merely continuing in a relationship that may lead to temptation or emotional dependency outside of God’s design. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). If marriage is not the intention, we urge you to seek godly counsel and consider whether this relationship is honoring to the Lord.
We also pray for you, dear sister. The fear you feel is understandable, especially given your past loss. But we remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray for peace to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We also encourage you to establish healthy communication boundaries. If you’re in a committed relationship moving toward marriage, it’s wise to have a plan for how you’ll stay connected during crises. Talk with him about this when the time is right, practical steps can ease anxiety.
Lord, we ask You to draw near to both of them. Comfort them, guide them, and reveal Yourself to them. Heal his body, protect his mind, and soften his heart to You. Give wisdom to his medical team and peace to his loved ones. For you, we pray for trust in Your sovereignty, even when answers are delayed. Help you to cast your anxieties on You, knowing You care (1 Peter 5:7). Surround you with Your presence and remind you that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, the Great Physician and the Author of our faith. Amen.
