Boyfriend

Good and Faithful Servant
I recently posted this: "My boyfriend and I are unequally yoked in a lot of ways and lately, he keeps expressing displeasure at the differences we have. He is a professing Christian but holds to certain false teachings. There are also other ways that we differ. I broke up with him a little while ago because I was struggling with these differences and some other things but we were both so heartbroken that I got back together with him. But these differences now continue to be a problem. It was not this difficult before. Please pray about all this." Please pray for me because I feel really overwhelmed and upset right now emotionally. I have medical conditions that require me to stay calm and now, after he just got upset with me because of these differences, I feel physically worn and generally upset. Thank you.

We hear your heart and the deep struggle you are facing in this season. The pain of being unequally yoked is real, and Scripture is clear about the challenges it brings. 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 warns us, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?" While your boyfriend professes Christ, the false teachings he holds to and the ongoing disunity in your relationship reveal a deeper spiritual divide that cannot be ignored.

It is also concerning that this relationship has led you back into emotional turmoil after a breakup, especially when your health requires peace. Proverbs 14:30 reminds us, "The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones." Your well-being matters to the Lord, and He does not desire for you to remain in a place of constant strife. The fact that these differences are causing such distress now, when they were not as difficult before, may be the Holy Spirit speaking to you, urging you to seek His will above your emotions.

We must also address the reality of your relationship. You refer to him as your "boyfriend," but Scripture does not recognize casual dating or courtship without the intent of marriage. If this relationship is not moving toward a godly marriage, where both of you are fully submitted to Christ and His Word, then it is not honoring to the Lord. Ephesians 5:3 calls us to holiness, saying, "But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints." If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, we must repent and turn away from that sin, for it grieves the Holy Spirit.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear sister who is carrying such a heavy burden. Lord, You see her heart, her desire to honor You, her love for this man, and the pain of this struggle. We ask that You would give her clarity and wisdom beyond her own understanding. Speak to her, Lord, through Your Word and by Your Spirit. Show her Your will for this relationship, whether it is to be restored in truth or released for Your glory.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of confusion and emotional turmoil that has taken hold of her. We declare peace over her mind, body, and spirit in Jesus’ name. Strengthen her in this moment of weakness, and remind her that her identity is in Christ, not in this relationship. If there has been any sin, whether in thought, word, or deed, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Lead her into repentance and restore her to a place of holiness.

Lord, we also pray for this young man. If he is truly Yours, draw him into a deeper relationship with You. Convict him of any false teachings he holds to, and bring him into alignment with Your Word. Soften his heart to receive correction and truth. If this relationship is not Your will, we ask that You would close the door completely and give both of them the strength to walk away.

Above all, Father, we ask that You would be her comfort and her strength. Remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You collect her tears in a bottle. Surround her with godly counsel and community, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. May she seek You first in all things, trusting that You will direct her paths.

We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Dear sister, we want to encourage you with the truth that God sees you and loves you deeply. The pain you feel is not without purpose, and the Lord is using this season to draw you closer to Him. Psalm 34:18-19 says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." You are not alone in this.

We urge you to seek godly counsel from mature believers who can speak truth into your situation. Surround yourself with those who will pray for you and hold you accountable. Spend time in God’s Word, allowing it to renew your mind and guide your steps. If this relationship is causing you more harm than good, spiritually, emotionally, or physically, it may be time to surrender it fully to the Lord and trust Him to heal your heart.

Remember, your worth is not found in this man or any relationship, but in Christ alone. He is your Bridegroom, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust Him to lead you into the path of righteousness, even when it is difficult. We are standing with you in prayer, believing that God will make His will clear and give you the strength to walk in it.

Thank you for letting us know what this day has cost you. When you already carry a medical need to stay calm, a conflict like this is not just emotional noise; it drains your body. So feeling physically worn after that conversation makes sense. You are not weak for being overwhelmed.

For tonight, we would encourage you not to keep re-running the argument. Step back from the topic so your body can settle. Give yourself permission to be quiet, to rest, and to let someone close to you know you have had a hard day. You do not have to sort out the relationship tonight. If the physical weariness keeps building or you feel unusually unwell, please call your doctor, because your medical condition deserves that care.

Lord, you see this woman right now. She is overwhelmed and worn. Would you quiet her heart and steady her body? Give her the rest she needs tonight and keep her health from further strain. Grant her wisdom she does not have to manufacture on her own, and surround her with steady, caring people. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The weariness you describe is not weakness of faith alone; it is the strain of two yokes upon one neck. A man may profess the name of Christ and yet hold false teaching, and that is no true yoke fellow for a daughter of God. You are not bound to him by the covenant of marriage, and therefore the door of obedience stands open. It was sorrow that drew you back, but sorrow is not always a safe guide. A broken bone must be set aright before it can heal; if it is only bound up in its crookedness, the pain returns with every step.

Your bodily frame needs quiet, and I do not despise that. Yet the quiet that comes from walking contrary to a plain command, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers," is not the peace of God. True rest is found in the yoke of Christ, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. All fullness dwells in Him, not in any human affection, however dear. Come to Him now with this heavy heart, for He has said, "Him that cometh to me I will by no means cast out."

I will pray for you, not that this unequal bond may be made smooth, but that you may have grace to lay it down and take up the yoke of Jesus alone. He is able to keep your heart in perfect calm, for He says, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me." Trust Him for the healing of every broken place. The Lord betroths His people to Himself in faithfulness and righteousness; that is a union worth any present sorrow.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The very thing that has worn you down is not simply this argument; it is the strain of trying to maintain a close bond while your spirits pull in opposite directions. You are not failing for feeling overwhelmed. You are trying to keep peace in a place where peace cannot be built because the foundation is divided.

I do pray for you now, and I do not ask God to bless the confusion or the union as it now stands. I ask Him to steady your body, to calm the storm in your mind, and to give you the courage to choose His truth over the fear of more heartbreak. Your medical condition makes this urgent, for repeated emotional upheaval is already costing you strength. But even if your body were strong, your soul would still be in danger of being slowly worn down by a bond that keeps reviving a conflict you already tried to end.

You say he is a professing Christian but holds to false teachings. The name of Christ upon someone is not enough when the teaching contradicts the gospel. Salvation is in Jesus Christ alone; if his errors touch that, they are not small. The yoke is still unequal if his beliefs and direction pull against the faith you are called to keep. Heartbreak is real, and returning to him because you both sorrowed is understandable, but grief must not become the reason to remain in a relationship that troubles your conscience and your peace.

Remember that many conflicts spring from attachments to this life, and a vessel free from confusion sails with a fair wind. Right now the relationship itself is keeping you in confusion. I urge you not to rush into another long discussion while you are physically worn. Withdraw for a time, pray in your room, and ask God whether this bond is helping you love Him with an undivided heart. If it is not, then the merciful and wise act is to end it plainly and let God tend the broken pieces. You are not required to keep placing your body and soul under this strain.

I pray that God will give you the small daily strength to obey Him, that He will quiet the fear that makes you return to what troubles you, and that He will surround you with a mature believer from your church who can walk beside you. He is near to the brokenhearted, and He does not despise the tears of one who wants to be faithful. Let your calm be found not in keeping the relationship at any cost, but in lying down in the harbor of Christ, where the vessel rests even when the waters outside are loud.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about what you are walking through. Hearing that you feel overwhelmed, emotionally upset and physically worn down is heavy, especially when you have medical conditions that require you to stay calm. It makes sense that ongoing conflict and stress would leave you exhausted in both body and soul, and it is right to bring this to the Lord for His help and wisdom.

God's Word speaks very clearly about being unequally yoked together with unbelievers. That picture comes from two animals tied together to pull a load. If they are mismatched they cannot pull together, they pull against each other. Scripture asks what fellowship righteousness has with unrighteousness and what communion light has with darkness. The two do not blend, like oil and water they remain separate. This truth is not limited to marriage, it applies to any close binding relationship where you are tied together and must walk as one, and marriage is the closest of those yokes.

Many people feel their situation is the exception, that their love is strong enough to cover the differences, or that the other person will change. But the principle still stands. When two people do not share the same faith, the same understanding of truth, and the same ethic before God, they are not living by the same standard. What grieves one conscience may not bother the other at all. That is why you are finding that it was not this difficult before but now the differences keep causing displeasure and hurt. An unequal yoke is always unequal, one person is pulling one way and the other another way, and the strain wears you down.

Part of that strain is emotional. The heartbreak you felt after the breakup and the pull to get back together is very real. Emotions can swing quickly, much like we see in children who go from loud laughter to tears in a moment. It is good to feel deeply, and God gave us emotions, but decisions about obedience cannot be built on an emotional experience. There is a thirst in the human spirit that only God can satisfy. The world often tries to satisfy that spiritual thirst with material things or with a new relationship or with the intensity of romantic feelings, but it cannot be satisfied that way. Jesus invites those who thirst to come to Him and drink. Only He can settle and fill the spirit, and no person, no matter how loved, can take His place.

There is also a real connection between the health of your soul and the health of your body. The apostle John wrote to Gaius that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospered. That was not a guarantee that every faithful person will always be well, it was a loving prayer and greeting. Some of the most faithful people we know walk through deep health struggles, and that does not mean they lack faith or commitment. God's ways are not our ways. At the same time that prayer shows God cares about your physical well being and your peace. We are learning more and more how attitudes, stress and inner turmoil can change the body and affect health. When your soul is in turmoil and under constant strain, your body feels it, and with a condition that requires calm that burden is even heavier. God is the Lord who heals and sustains, and He understands the frailty of our bodies.

What feels overwhelming to you does not overwhelm Him. When you go through deep waters of grief, relational pain, or fear about the future, He remains steady. The God who created the universe says, behold I am God, is there anything too hard for me. He is able to deal bountifully with you and to bring assurance as you pray. He can surround you with wise and righteous support as you seek Him.

I will pray for you, not that God would bless a yoke that His Word warns against, but that He would give you clarity, courage and peace to walk in obedience to Him. I pray He will guard your heart and body, grant you calm in place of turmoil, and help your soul to prosper as you draw near to Jesus. Ask Him to show you the next faithful step, to give you strength to do what is right even when it is heartbreaking, and to provide godly counsel around you to support you. If you have trusted Jesus for salvation, keep coming to Him daily for living water. If you have medical care for your conditions, please continue to follow it and let those caring for you know how much stress you are under.

You are not alone in this, and the Lord sees both your spiritual and physical need. May He give you His wisdom and His quiet strength as you seek to honor Him.
