We have heard your cry and we join with you before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, and we thank you for coming in His name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved and forgiven. We praise God that you have asked for forgiveness of sins, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12.
We understand the heavy burden you carry, the shame you feel before your family, the fear of losing your new job, and the distress of constant calls, visits and threats, and we bring all of this before the Lord with compassion. God sees your anxiety and He cares deeply for your peace, for God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble in Psalm 46:1, and we pray He will be your peace in this storm.
We also want to lovingly speak truth to you about the matter of debt, because God calls us to walk in integrity and faithfulness in our financial commitments. While we fully understand your feeling that you have already paid more than you borrowed and your desire for the accounts to simply be closed, Scripture teaches us that when we make an agreement to borrow, including interest, we are bound to honor it. The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously in Psalm 37:21, and we are told owe no one anything, except to love one another in Romans 13:8 and give therefore to everyone what you owe in Romans 13:7. This does not mean God wants you to be crushed or harassed, but He does desire that we have a heart that wants to repay what we owe as we are able, rather than asking Him to make a debt disappear that is still legally owed. Your desire to repay everyone is right and pleasing to God, and we encourage you to hold to that honest intention.
We also gently caution you about asking for a miracle personal loan without hassle to pay off all debts. The borrower is servant to the lender in Proverbs 22:7, and taking on new debt to cover old debt can often lead to a deeper cycle of bondage if not done with great wisdom and discipline. The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit in Proverbs 21:5. God more often provides through diligent work, wise stewardship, budgeting, and contentment than through an easy financial escape. We pray not simply for an easy loan, but for wisdom, provision, and a clear path out of debt that honors Him.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel for practical steps, to make a clear budget, to live within your means, to communicate honestly and in writing with those you owe, to keep records of what you have paid, and to seek lawful protection if harassment or threats become abusive or illegal, while still showing a willing heart to make restitution. Seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you in Matthew 6:33, and we trust that as you honor Him, He will guide you.
We now pray together for you.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, forgive sins and cleanse this heart, and let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Father, You know the weight of this debt, the shame, the fear for family and for employment, and the disruption caused by constant calls and visits. We ask for Your mercy and protection over this family and over this new job, that no harassment would jeopardize honest work. Lord, provide for every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus as promised in Philippians 4:19, give wisdom to steward finances faithfully, open doors for honest provision, and grant favor and calm communication with creditors. Help this dear one to walk in integrity to repay what is owed with diligence and truth, and to be freed from the bondage of debt in Your timing. Give strength to endure, courage to make wise choices, and peace in the home that no visitor can take away. We ask for a miracle of Your provision and direction, not for avoidance, but for a righteous resolution that brings glory to You. Guide every step and let this trial produce perseverance and testimony of Your faithfulness. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
