Believing God for a new job

Waiting so long for work and sending out resumes with no reply is deeply discouraging, and it is understandable that you feel unseen and weary. Thank you for sharing this honestly so we can pray with you.

The story of Job speaks directly to this kind of season. That book is one of the oldest in the Bible, perhaps going back to the time of Abraham, though it records history even older than itself. Cultures have changed completely since then, yet the same deep questions and needs Job voiced are still the needs people carry today. His cries touch the deepest issues of life, which is why his story continues to comfort those who walk through long trials.

Scripture gives us background that Job and his friends could not see. God Himself testified of Job as a man of integrity who loved good and turned from evil. The enemy had been watching Job closely and had formed a theory about him, that his faith was only because God had put a hedge around him and blessed him with abundance, and that if those blessings were removed he would turn from God. God permitted a season of loss to show what was true, but even that testing remained under His sovereign control.

That helps us see two things for you. First, you are not forgotten or overlooked. Even when heaven seems silent and no doors open, God is still aware of you and at work in ways that are not yet visible. Job felt as though God had forsaken him, yet God had not. He was working through the very trial that felt like abandonment. Second, long waiting does not automatically mean you have done something wrong. Job's friends came to comfort him but became painful counselors. They insisted his suffering must prove hidden sin or hypocrisy and told him to simply get right with God and everything would be fixed. Job knew that was not true. He maintained his integrity, he did not curse God or accuse Him foolishly, but he did say he did not understand His ways. God later corrected those friends. Do not receive the false idea that being without work means God is punishing you or that you are a failure in His eyes. God is just and fair, but not every hardship is a direct judgment for sin.

You can also bring your honest grief to God. Much of what Job said in his pain was not doctrine given by the Spirit, but the Spirit faithfully recording the honest words of a grieving man. God allows that honesty in prayer. Job also cried out for someone to stand between God and man, to lay a hand on both and bring them together. That cry is answered in Jesus Christ, who alone is the mediator between God and us and who brings us near to God even when we do not understand our circumstances.

We are praying for you, that God will provide for your daily needs, give you wisdom as you continue to look for work, and open the right door in His timing. We pray also that in this waiting He will draw you closer to Himself, not only for the blessing of a job but for the deeper confidence of knowing you are known and loved by Him. Like Job, who became known for patient endurance through a long trial, may you find strength to keep seeking the Lord, trusting that He sees, He cares, and He is working even now.

Father, we lift up this dear one to You. You see the months of waiting, the applications sent, the silence that has followed, and the discouragement that brings. We ask You to provide work that is good and fitting, to guide each step, and to sustain faith while waiting. Help this heart to know Your nearness through Jesus Christ, to rest in Your justice and mercy, and to experience Your provision. In Jesus name, Amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to lift you up as you are believing God for a new job after being jobless for a long time. We know how discouraging it can be to faithfully submit your cv to different companies and to have work experience yet not receive a call or response, and we have been asking the Lord to see your diligence and faithfulness and to open the right door in His perfect timing.

We stand on the promise in Phil 4:19 that our God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus and in Jer 29:11 that He knows the plans He has for you, plans to give you hope and a future. We pray that the Lord will guide your cv into the right hands, grant you favor with employers, and provide the opportunity that will allow you to use the gifts and experience He has given you for His glory.

If your request has been answered and God has provided a job, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not yet seem to have been answered and you are still waiting for a call, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We want to keep standing with you until you see His provision.

We pray that God will strengthen your heart while you wait, that He will keep you from discouragement, and that He will lead you to the position He has prepared for you. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name, amen.
