Silas
Beloved of All
Your honesty about feeling used, unseen, and unsure of your worth is heard, and it matters to God. You described a desire to be usable to the Lord, to see your life change, and to be restored in the gifts He has given you so that you and others might be kept from destruction. That desire itself is something God can work with, and I want to pray with you toward that.
Scripture gives a picture of what it means to be truly usable. In the Old Testament the vessels made for the tabernacle were set apart, sanctified for one purpose, to be used in the worship and service of God and not for any other common use. In the same way, the New Testament teaches that your body as a believer is a member of Christ, an instrument belonging to Him. To be usable does not mean being more available to be used up by people, or measuring your value by how much others demand from you. It means being set apart for Him, belonging to Him, and being made fit for His purposes by His grace. That is a decision of the heart made well in advance, to present yourself to God for what He wants to do, and then to let Him shape and cleanse you for that use. Your worth is not determined by whether people notice you or take advantage of you. It is secured because you have been bought by Jesus Christ and joined to Him.
You also shared the weight of feeling dominated by those who do not know the Lord and who have not heard the truth, and the sense that those influences are pressing in on Christians. The Bible often compares sin and false teaching to leaven. Leaven is a picture of decay and permeation. A little spreads through the whole lump, quietly rotting and corrupting. That is why God calls His people to purity, not to hide the truth but to live it clearly. The history of the church shows how easily outside influences can corrupt when they are allowed to mix in, and how the result is always a loss of power and witness. God does not want you to be overcome by that permeating influence. He wants you to be kept pure through Christ, so that your life can remain a clear testimony of His truth to those who have not yet heard.
It is also painful to feel neglected by those who hold responsibility in the church. The Lord is the head of His body, the church, and He has appointed older, mature believers to watch over and care for the flock, to pray, to shepherd, and to attend to both spiritual and practical needs. When that care feels absent, it hurts deeply. God sees that hurt. He does not neglect His own. Even when people fail, Jesus remains the faithful shepherd who knows your name and your situation. Within the church, matters between brothers and sisters are meant to be handled with gentleness and order, with respect, as a father to a son, and with a desire for reconciliation. If you have been overlooked, bring that need honestly to the Lord first, and then, as you are able, seek a quiet, respectful conversation with those who shepherd, so they may know how to pray for you and help bear your burden.
You prayed that your abilities would be restored and that your past walk with heaven might be used to help save you and others from the gates of hell. Only Jesus saves, and salvation is through Him alone. No ability of our own can rescue from judgment, but God delights to restore and strengthen those who belong to Him by the working of His Spirit. His eternal purposes will stand, and He is able to take what has been broken or dormant and make it useful again for His glory. As with the story of Esther, when His people faced destruction through the plot of Haman against Mordecai and all the Jews, God proved that His purposes cannot be thwarted. What He has purposed in Christ will be fulfilled, and He invites you to be part of that purpose as you abide in Him.
So I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift this dear one to You. Thank You that You have made a way through the cross and resurrection for forgiveness, new life, and hope. Set apart this life anew for Yourself. Cleanse and renew what has been worn down by feeling used and overlooked. Restore strength and soundness, and make this life a clean vessel fit for Your use, not for the misuse of others but for Your holy purposes. Guard this heart from the permeating power of sin and from discouragement when surrounded by unbelief. Give courage to shine with truth and grace. Let Your Spirit bring assurance of worth in Christ, comfort in feeling neglected, and wisdom to walk in fellowship with others in the body. Fulfill Your eternal purposes here, and use what You restore to point many to Jesus, who alone delivers from hell and gives eternal life. Keep this one close to You in the days ahead and cause real and lasting change by Your power. Amen.
