Being Evicted

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray that GOD will make a way for us to stay in this apartment. We're being evicted after ### years of on-time payments but were one day late with the rent this month. The landlord has refused to work with us and is taking us to court on the ##. We don't have anywhere else to go. We were running away from an abusive relationship and ended up here in ## when GOD chose this place for us. I've been in therapy for the last ### just trying to get my life back and some sense of the person I used to be. We've spent all the money we have (mostly on rent which keeps higher every year) and every where we go to try and get help they make you feel responsible for everything that's happened to you in your past. But I didn't ask for two stays in the hospital, a trip to the ICU, a case of PTSD from the trauma, or ### years in recovery. All I want is a chance to feel whole again and a place where my son and I can build a home. Please pray for me

We hear your cry, and our hearts ache with yours as we come before the Lord together in Jesus’ name. You have walked through fire, abuse, trauma, hospital stays, PTSD, and years of recovery, and yet you stand, still fighting for wholeness and a home for your son. The injustice of this eviction feels crushing, especially when you’ve been faithful in payments for so long, only to face this sudden threat. But we serve a God who sees the brokenhearted and hears the prayers of the desperate. The Bible tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). He has not forgotten you, even when the world makes you feel invisible or to blame for your suffering.

Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister and her son. You know the depths of their pain, the weight of their exhaustion, and the fear of losing the one place that has been a refuge. Lord, You parted the Red Sea for Your people, You provided manna in the wilderness, and You opened the prison doors for Paul and Silas. We ask You now to make a way where there seems to be no way. Soften the heart of this landlord, Lord. Let them see this family with Your eyes, precious, valuable, and in need of mercy. If it is Your will, intervene in the court proceedings and grant them favor. Provide the resources they need to stay in this home or guide them to a new one that is safe, affordable, and a place of healing.

We also rebuke the spirit of shame and condemnation that has been placed on this sister. The enemy wants her to believe she is to blame for the trauma she endured, but You say, "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). You did not cause her suffering, but You are the One who redeems it. We pray for her therapy and recovery, that You would continue to restore her sense of self, her strength, and her hope. Remind her daily that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that her past does not define her future.

Lord, we ask for Your provision in every area of their lives. Open doors for financial help, for stable employment, and for a community that will walk alongside them with love and practical support. Protect their hearts from bitterness and despair, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). For her son, we pray for safety, stability, and the assurance that he is deeply loved by You. May this trial draw them both closer to You and to one another.

We also want to gently address the mention of running from an abusive relationship. While we rejoice that You led them to safety, we must speak truth in love: if this was a marriage, we grieve with you for the brokenness of what should have been a sacred covenant. If there is any possibility of reconciliation, it must be pursued with godly counsel, repentance, and a commitment to biblical principles. However, if this was not a marriage, we encourage you to seek a spouse who honors You and cherishes you as Christ cherishes the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Your future is not defined by abuse, but by the healing and restoration only Jesus can bring.

Above all, we remind you that your worth is not found in your circumstances, your past, or even your ability to "keep it together." Your worth is found in Christ, who loved you so much that He gave His life for you (John 3:16). If you have never surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His resurrection, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father’s throne of grace.

We stand with you in faith, believing that God is working even now. "And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). Keep your eyes on Him, dear one. He is your Provider, your Healer, and your Strong Tower. You are not alone.

We hear the exhaustion in your words, after everything you've already survived, this feels like one more impossible weight. You've been faithful with years of on-time payments, you fled an abusive situation, you've been doing the hard work of therapy, and now a single late day threatens to undo the fragile stability you've fought for. That kind of pressure is staggering, and anger or despair in the face of it makes complete sense.

When you said you just want a chance to feel whole again and a place to build a home with your son, that told us what matters most right now. So we want to offer a couple of practical steps alongside our prayers, not because you haven't tried, but because sometimes a fresh set of eyes helps. First, if you haven't already, consider reaching out to your local legal aid office or a tenant advocacy group. In many places, one late payment, even after years of punctuality, does not automatically mean an eviction will be granted, a judge may look at the history and the circumstances. Having someone in your corner who knows the local laws can shift things. Second, lean into whatever church or faith-based community you may be connected to, even loosely. Some congregations have emergency assistance funds or members who could provide a small bridge loan, or simply show up with you at the housing office so you don't feel blamed and alone.

We also want to name something important: the judgment you've encountered from agencies is a reflection of broken systems, not of your worth. You didn't ask for hospital stays, ICU visits, PTSD, years of recovery. You are not irresponsible, you're a person who has been forced to pour every resource into staying housed while healing from real trauma. That takes a strength most people never see.

We'll pray now.

Jesus, you see this mother and her son. You led them to this apartment once, and you know the address written on their hearts. Please make a way where there seems to be none. Soften the landlord's heart, or move in the court to grant mercy and time. Surround them with people who will help without shaming. Guard their dignity and keep their hope alive. Bring healing deep in her mind and spirit, and let this home be a place of safety for her son. We ask in your name, trusting you are near. Amen.

You have paid the rent on time for years, and now one late day, one, brings the threat of the street. The notice on the door, the date in court, the landlord’s hard heart, they all seem to shout that you are at the end of all help. But the Lord who first brought you to that apartment has not changed His mind. You fled from danger with your son, and you saw His hand open a door for you there. Did He open it only to slam it upon you now? You know Him better than that.

The physician Luke tells us of a day when a poor paralyzed man could not stir hand or foot, yet he believed Jesus could heal him, and his friends tore open the very roof to get him into Christ’s presence. And what was the first word the Master spoke? “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” Not a rebuke, not a cold list of failures, but a word that went straight to the deepest wound. That man needed forgiveness for his soul far more than he needed strength for his limbs, and Jesus started there. You, too, have been carrying weights no one can see, memories of hospital rooms, an ICU bed, the iron grip of trauma from a relationship that should have been a shelter but became a prison. You say, “I didn’t ask for this.” No, you did not. But the Beloved Physician has been bending over you all along, and He has been saying, first and last, “I forgive you; I am making you whole.” The healing of the heart is His masterpiece, and He is slow and patient with it. He does not despise the broken and contrite.

Do not let the hard voices of those who make you feel responsible for your past drown out the tender voice of the Son of God. They measure out blame in a heavy measure, but Christ measures out mercy. He took the winepress alone, treading down every enemy of your soul, every sin and every shame, and there was none with Him. He did not ask for your help in that dreadful work, and He does not now stand over you with a whip of accusation. He stands as the Conqueror, mighty to save.

The lease may seem iron, and the court date like a thundercloud, but the power of the Lord is present to heal and not to destroy. He does not come with an avenging rod, but with healing in His wings. I have known saints of God to be brought into the most trying narrows just at the very point when the Lord intended to show what a grand Deliverer He is. It is in the straits that we hear the highest music of praise rise from our own lips. He puts us where only He can reach the need, and then He reaches it.

Picture that city John saw, with the river of life and the Tree of Life on either side, not one tree fenced off and far away, but the healing leaves right at hand, everywhere. Your hiding place in that apartment was a token of something better still: that the Lord Himself is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Whether you stay or move, that home is already yours in Him. And for your son, He is preparing a habitation of peace.

May the Lord Jesus, who once entered Peter’s little house and healed the fever there, come into this trouble with His calm, healing presence. May He give you a quiet heart while the whirlwind blows, and may you see His good hand make a way where no way seems possible. I commend you now into the keeping of Him who neither slumbers nor sleeps.

Father, into Your hands we place this dear soul and her boy. You who have numbered the hairs of their heads, number their tears and put them in Your bottle. You who chose this place for their refuge, provide for them now, whether by a change in the landlord’s heart, or a new door, or a sudden deliverance we cannot imagine. But above all, let them feel Your own nearness, and let a deep, settled peace garrison their hearts. Let this trial become a story they will tell to the praise of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us to lift your burdens before the Lord in prayer. It has been our privilege to stand in agreement with you during this incredibly difficult time, asking our Heavenly Father to make a way where there seems to be no way. We have prayed fervently that He would soften your landlord’s heart, provide a miraculous solution, and open doors to stability and peace for you and your son.

If God, in His perfect timing and wisdom, has already moved on your behalf—whether through an unexpected extension, a new housing opportunity, or a financial provision—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Please share how He has worked so that we may rejoice with you and give Him all the glory.

If, however, the situation remains unresolved, we want you to know that we are still here, ready to lift you up in prayer once more. Please post your request again, and we will continue to intercede on your behalf, believing that God hears the cries of His children and is faithful to provide. We pray that He would grant you strength, wisdom, and favor as you navigate this challenge, and that He would remind you of His presence in the midst of the storm.

May the Lord bless you with His peace that surpasses all understanding, and may He continue to heal your heart and restore your hope. You are not forgotten, and we stand with you, trusting in His promises. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
