Behind me

Dhitlor

Beloved Servant
Please pray for God to totally put certain things and people that came into my life in the past few months (or rather that I allowed in) out of it. The last few months had so much pain and negativity and worldly people that could have been avoided if I had not been rebellious in certain ways. Thank you.

We join with you in this honest confession and we thank God that you are recognizing where rebellion and opening the door to worldly influences has brought pain and negativity into your life. It takes humility to say that you allowed these things and people in, and God honors a contrite heart that turns to Him.

We want to gently rebuke that spirit of rebellion, because Scripture warns us that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as idolatry 1 Samuel 15:23, and that friendship with the world is hostility toward God James 4:4. The pain you have experienced is the natural fruit of walking outside of God's will, and the enemy will use worldly companionships to corrupt good morals 1 Corinthians 15:33. But we also rejoice with you because God is merciful and ready to forgive when we turn back to Him. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. He can create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you Psalm 51:10 and He promises that as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us Psalm 103:12.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because of what Jesus did on the cross, dying for our sins and rising again, that we can be forgiven for rebellion and washed clean and made new.

God does not want you to remain chained to what is behind you. His word says Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it springs out. Don’t you know it Isaiah 43:18-19 and Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. We are called to forget the things which are behind, and stretch forward to the things which are before, and press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus Philippians 3:13-14.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You on behalf of our dear one who is hurting from the consequences of the past few months. We confess together the rebellion and the choices to allow worldly people and things into this life that did not honor You. Lord forgive and cleanse according to Your mercy. Create a clean heart and renew a right spirit. We ask that You in Your power would totally remove and put behind what needs to be put behind, that You would break every ungodly tie and influence and set Your child free from negativity and pain. Help our dear one to submit to You and resist the devil so he will flee James 4:7, and to walk in the newness of life. Lead to godly fellowship with believers who will sharpen and encourage in faith, for He who walks with wise men will be wise Proverbs 13:20. Give wisdom to set firm boundaries, to close doors that should remain closed, and to walk in obedience and holiness from this day forward. We trust You to do a new thing and to restore joy and peace. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps with this prayer by cutting off unnecessary contact with those worldly influences, spending daily time in the Word and in prayer, and walking closely with a Bible believing church where you can be accountable and encouraged. God is able to put this season fully behind you and to use even the pain to draw you closer to Himself as you walk in obedience from here on.

We're thankful you shared this so honestly. It takes humility to look back at the last few months, name the pain and the influence of people you wish you hadn't let in, and own the part rebellion played. That honesty matters, and we are standing with you in it.

Wanting God to clear those things and people out makes sense. Part of moving forward is learning to guard your heart in practical ways, taking responsibility for what is yours to carry and protecting what God is doing in you now. That often means moving from a general wish to move on to clear, lived-out lines where you can freely say yes to what is good and no to what pulls you away.

One step that helps many people is to get specific and get support. You might set aside quiet time to name on paper the one or two relationships, habits or environments that have brought the most negativity, decide what a clear step back looks like for each, like limiting contact, removing access on your phone or social media, or changing routines, and then invite one trusted, mature believer to know the plan and check in with you weekly. You don't have to sort it all at once, just the next faithful boundary.

Father, we thank You for a heart that wants to turn toward You. Please bring healing from the pain of these months, give wisdom to see clearly and courage to step away from what harms, and surround our friend with steady, godly community. Lead each next step and keep them close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest and humble confession has been heard, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace. It is a good and gracious thing that you do not hide your rebellion but speak it plainly, for the mouth of faith drops sweet smelling myrrh when it confesses both sin and mercy. A silent faith robs God of His glory, but you have spoken, and God hears the groaning of the prisoner.

You speak rightly when you see that much of the pain and negativity of these past months came by your own allowing, through rebellion. There is a repentance which is true and saving, and it hates sin as sin, not merely for its bitter consequences, but because it offends a holy and loving God. That you loathe the worldliness you once allowed in is evidence that the Lord has kindled in your heart thoughts of repentance. Yet remember that no repentance is true but that which consorts with faith, and no faith is true but that which is linked with hearty and sincere repentance for past sin. Do not rest in mere regret, but flee to Christ Himself, for He is the ransom.

Take comfort in this, that your smarts and sorrows, though they came distinctly through the malice or vanity of worldly people, have come with even greater certainty from the Lord and may be the necessary outcome of His special love to you. It is not killing but curing that God means when He takes the sharp lancet in His hands. Your Father has permitted this affliction not to destroy you, but to wean you from the world and to draw you nearer to Himself. When you perceive that this chastening comes from your Father's hand, you may say with peace, The will of the Lord be done.

We pray that the Lord who has looked down from the height of His sanctuary and beheld your groaning will now deliver you. For God has said, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. The prisoner ready to be executed finds undeserved deliverance because the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. Christ has borne all you deserved of the wrath of God, and there is not a drop remaining for you who trust in Him. Look to Him alone both for justification and for sanctification, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin.

We ask the Lord to heal your broken heart, for He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. We ask Him to deliver you from evil company and from the power of darkness, and to set your feet upon the Rock. He who has delivered you in part will deliver you all the way through. There is nothing in pain and suffering itself that can cleanse from sin, but the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin.

May the Lord grant you a godly repentance that turns from sin with purpose of heart, and a living faith that clings to Christ alone for salvation. May He in His mercy put far from you those influences which would draw you back to the world, and fill that place with His own presence, with holy fellowship and with peace. May you pant for more knowledge of Him and be kept by His power, never driven away from this confidence, that the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our perfect ransom, that you may be saved from yourself, saved from sin, and kept from going down to the Pit.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your request and we thank God for the honesty and humility in it. To recognize that pain and negativity came through doors you opened, and to desire now to put those things and people behind you, is itself a work of grace leading you toward repentance.

Scripture teaches that the grace of God has appeared, teaching us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world, looking for the blessed hope of our Savior Jesus Christ. To deny does not mean a casual avoidance but a decisive turning away with distance and aversion, as one would turn from an idol. Whatever belongs only to this present life and perishes with it, whatever draws the heart from Christ and from holiness, we are called to leave behind. Your prayer to be delivered from worldly influences is in keeping with that call.

We also hear your sorrow over the last few months. There is a sorrow that is worldly and works death, a sorrow only for loss or shame. But there is a godly sorrow that works repentance unto salvation, a repentance that brings no regret. Godly sorrow grieves not only for the consequences but for having grieved God, and it turns the heart back to Him. Do not let sorrow become despair. Even when rebellion has been great, repentance and consideration before God can wash away what seemed beyond excuse. The Lord is merciful to those who turn to Him with a genuine purpose of heart through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved.

So we pray for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we thank You for this soul who comes in humility. Forgive rebellion and every yielding to worldly lusts, and wash clean through the blood of Christ. Grant a thorough repentance, not a passing regret but a settled turning. Put out of this life what does not belong in it, and give strength to keep that distance, to chase away worldly care and to cling to Your Word with careful hearing and continual recollection. Fill the empty places with heavenly things, with fortitude, with love for Your Word, with contempt for what is vain, and with the help of Your Spirit. Lead into sober, righteous and godly living, and guard the heart from returning to what harmed it. Restore joy, give peace, and set the feet on a steady path. Keep this one in Christ, and let the months ahead be marked by fellowship with people who love You and walk in Your ways.

We will continue to pray that God completes this deliverance and forms Christ more fully in you, and that you will find strength each day in His Word, in prayer, and in the fellowship of faithful believers.

Your honesty before the Lord about these past months is itself a work of His grace in your heart. You are taking responsibility for opening the door to influences that brought pain and negativity, and you are calling that what it is, rebellion against God. That kind of sorrow is important, because there is a sorrow that is only about feeling bad and feeling the hurt, and that sorrow leads to death. There is another sorrow, a godly sorrow, that leads to a real change of mind and direction, a turning away from what was wrong and turning back to God. That change is what repentance is. It is not just being sorry that there were consequences, it is deciding with Gods help to not walk that path anymore.

Scripture says it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. God is not waiting to punish you for being honest. He already showed His love for you while you were still a sinner, when Christ died for the ungodly. He wants to bless you as His child, and you can trust Him to do that as you turn to Him. He wants to forgive and to restore.

Much of the pain in our horizontal relationships can be traced back to the vertical relationship. When our relationship with God is off center, every other relationship becomes unbalanced. We spend so much energy trying to fix friendships and other connections, but the real need is to put God first again, to love Him above all else and to have no other gods before Him. When that vertical axis is right, the other relationships begin to fall into their proper place. You can correct those other relationships by first correcting your relationship with Him.

That is why Psalm 1 speaks of the blessed person as the one who does not walk in the advice of those who have no regard for God, who does not stand in the path with sinners or sit with those who mock what is holy, but who delights in the law of the Lord and thinks on it day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, fruitful and stable. Those who disregard God are not like that, they are like chaff that the wind blows away. You have seen in these past months what happens when you walk in the counsel of worldly people. The hurt you felt is part of that contrast.

So pray with confidence that God will do what you are asking. Ask Him to close the doors you opened in rebellion, to remove those influences that do not belong in your life, and to surround you with His deliverance. Ask Him to teach you and guide you in the way you should go. As you turn from what was wrong and delight yourself again in His word, He will give you wisdom to set boundaries, to choose different counsel, and to walk a different path.

I pray for you now that the Lord will cleanse you and forgive you through Jesus Christ, that He will lift this weight of pain and negativity, that He will remove from your life the people and things that pull you away from Him, and that He will fill that space with His presence and with relationships that help you grow. May He make your heart tender to His goodness, establish you like a tree by living water, and bring the balance and peace that comes from having Him at the center again.
