We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation concerning your friend. Deception and manipulation are serious matters that grieve the heart of God, for He is a God of truth and righteousness. The Bible warns us in Proverbs 12:22, "Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight." It is clear that dishonesty not only harms relationships but also separates us from the holiness of God.
We must also address the deeper issue at hand—this pattern of behavior reveals a heart that is not surrendered to Christ. If your friend does not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, he is operating under the influence of the enemy, who is the father of lies (John 8:44). Salvation through Jesus Christ is the only way to break free from the bondage of sin, including deceit. We pray that your friend would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus, repent of his sins, and be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. We lift up this friend who has been ensnared by the spirit of deception. Lord, we ask that You would expose every lie in his heart and every false motive in his actions. Break the chains of dishonesty that have bound him, and set him free by the truth of Your Word. We rebuke the enemy’s influence over his life and command every lying spirit to flee in Jesus’ name.
Father, we pray for conviction to fall upon him. Let him see the destruction his actions have caused—not only to others but to his own soul. Soften his heart to receive Your correction and grant him the humility to repent. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in integrity and truth. Surround him with godly influences who will speak life and righteousness into him.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for our sister/brother who has been affected by this deception. Guard their heart from bitterness or distrust, and help them to extend grace while standing firm in truth. Give them the strength to set healthy boundaries and to pray for their friend without enabling his sin.
Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against Your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We stand in faith, believing that Your light will penetrate the darkness in this situation. May Your truth prevail, and may this friend come to know the freedom that is found only in Christ. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.
