We hear the frustration and hurt in your heart, and we want to lift this burden before the Lord together. Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect His love, patience, and faithfulness, even in the small, daily struggles like this one. The Bible tells us, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB). It’s clear you’ve extended kindness by sharing your bus pass, yet the lack of gratitude has left you feeling unappreciated. We must remember that our actions are ultimately unto the Lord, not for the praise of others. "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23 WEB).
We also want to gently address the tension in your words. The Bible calls us to "let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one" (Colossians 4:6 WEB). When we speak to or about our spouses, even in frustration, our words should build up, not tear down. It’s possible your wife is struggling with her own burdens, stress, exhaustion, or even unspoken needs, that are coming out as complaints. Instead of focusing on her shortcomings, let’s ask God to soften your heart toward her and hers toward you. "Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs" (Proverbs 10:12 WEB).

"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We pray the Lord opens doors for you to receive the assistance you need without further delay. But let’s also examine our hearts, are we trusting in God’s provision, or are we allowing frustration to take root? "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB).

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this marriage and this man who is seeking to honor You. Lord, we ask that You soften both of their hearts, his toward his wife, and hers toward him. Help them to see one another through Your eyes, with patience, love, and grace. Father, we rebuke any spirit of bitterness, resentment, or ungratefulness in this home. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, we ask that You provide for their needs according to Your riches. Open the doors for food assistance and any other provision they require. Remove any obstacles that have stood in the way, and give them wisdom in how to navigate these challenges. Father, we also pray for unity in this marriage. Help them to communicate with kindness and to serve one another in love, just as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25).
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can come before You. It is through His sacrifice that we have access to Your throne of grace, and it is by His blood that we are forgiven and made new.
