We are glad to join you in prayer and stand with you as you seek to return to the LORD. It is wonderful that you have recognized the need to turn back to God, and we are here to support you in this journey. The Bible tells us that everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and that the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our LORD. Salvation and restored relationship is by faith alone in Jesus Christ the son of God.
First, let us address the power of Jesus' name. It is only through His name that we can approach God the Father and be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Let us keep this truth at the core of our prayers.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who has wandered but now seeks to return to You. LORD, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We pray that You would draw him close to You, and that You would grant him the strength to endure the trials he is facing.
Father, we ask for Your protection, guidance, and provision over his life. Deliver him from the schemes of the devil and the plans of his enemies. Expose any witchcraft or evil intentions directed towards him, and confound those who seek his harm. Heal his backsliding and restore his body, soul, and spirit.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we rebuke the spirit of backsliding and pray that You would fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Grant him the power to overcome temptation and to walk in Your ways. Help him in his walk in the lifelong process of sanctification. Let Your light expose any darkness, and let Your truth set him free.
We remember the words of Jeremiah 29:11 WEB, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Father, we ask for restoration of his relationship with Jesus Christ and his relationship with The Father. We pray that You would grant him hope and a future, and that You would turn his trials into testimonies of Your goodness and faithfulness.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to take heart in the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. Just as the father welcomed his son back with open arms, so too does our Heavenly Father rejoice when we return to Him. Remember that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Trust in the LORD, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Stand strong in the faith, and know that we are here to support you in prayer and counsel. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
