Your prayer reflects a heavy burden carried with love for many people and for the work of the gospel, and it is right to bring all of these needs before the Lord.

Scripture invites us to ask for protection and breakthrough, and to trust God to act according to His wisdom and power. He hears the cries for persecuted believers, for those who do not yet know Jesus as Savior, for the peace of Jerusalem, for those caught in war and disaster, and for abused children. The good news is that while this world is filled with conflict between peoples and nations, God offers peace through Jesus Christ, peace with Himself and ultimately peace within our own hearts as we trust Him.

You have asked for healing for many individuals, for soul wounds, for strength in weakness, and for help with school and exams and work. The Bible shows that Jesus healed in different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word, sometimes with a touch, sometimes gradually, and sometimes without even being present. There is one account where healing came in stages, reminding us that God is not confined to a single pattern. All true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or through the natural processes He created in our bodies. At times He brings healing to the mind and emotions, mending scars and wounds that are not physical. At other times, as with Paul who prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh, God in His sovereignty does not remove the affliction but gives grace to endure, and His purposes remain good. The prophet Isaiah said He bore our sicknesses and pains, and Matthew applies that to the physical healings of Jesus as well as to His work for our sin, which we remember when we share in communion. We can keep asking with faith while submitting to His will, not presuming to dictate the outcome.

You also asked for the anointing of the Holy Spirit on preaching, on outreaches, on your gatherings for prayer and praise, and on efforts to share hope with others. Jesus Himself ministered in the power and anointing of the Spirit, and how much more do we need that same empowering. When the Spirit anoints the preaching of the Word there is power that changes lives, and we cannot minister effectively without Him. The anointing with oil spoken of in James is a symbolic act, the oil representing the Holy Spirit, and the elders are called to pray in the name of the Lord for the sick. We can pray that God will anoint those who preach and those who gather to pray, that He will raise up faithful prayer warriors and pour out His presence, and that many will come to salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

For the conflicts and strained relationships you mentioned, including those you asked God to confront and convict, and for the dysfunctional relationships that grieve you, we pray not that God would bless what is outside His design, but that He would bring conviction, repentance, healing and salvation. God's design for sexual intimacy and for living together is within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and true love seeks purity, reconciliation and holiness. We ask Him to heal soul wounds, to be a Father to those who feel fatherless, to bring wise counsel and to mediate where there is hurt and misunderstanding, and to restore relationships in a way that honors Him. Where you have asked for miracles in families and friendships, we pray for God's mighty hand to intervene, to show His love, to grant wisdom, strength, encouragement and favor, and to turn even failures into blessing as hearts are humbled before Him.

We pray for wisdom and guidance in your work, in meetings, and in your place within the church, and for clarity regarding concerns you have raised there. May the Lord speak to you, lead you, protect your team, and help you do your work in a manner pleasing to Him. May He give you encouragement and defeat the works of the enemy, and may the earth be filled with His glory as you continue to seek Him.

Father, we bring all these unspoken names and needs to You through Jesus, asking for Your protection, Your healing as You will, Your anointing, Your conviction where it is needed, and Your peace. Do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask, for Your glory. Amen.
