Anxiety often feels like a hedge of thorns closing in, every worry a sharp point pressing against your mind. But the path of wisdom, the path that honors the Lord, is described as one where all her paths are peace. That peace is not something you manufacture by sheer will; it grows as you trust the way God has ordered things to work. You do not need to fully understand how His peace operates to benefit from it, any more than you need to grasp the mysteries of gravity to stand firmly on the ground. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, and within that fear, that reverent trust, you will find strong confidence. That confidence rests not in your own ability to perform flawlessly, but in the sure knowledge that you are His child and He is your shield.

When you feel overwhelmed by your tasks at work, remember that diligence itself is a form of peace. The slothful person sees thorns everywhere, making excuses, while the righteous heart studies to answer. That means instead of letting panic give a snap reaction, you pause, you think, you commit each small duty to the Lord. Do your best and then leave the outcome with Him. There is a profound difference between a work done to prove yourself and a work simply offered up. God does not need an army to accomplish His purposes; He can work through one yielded life just as easily. He often works in such quiet, natural ways that we miss the supernatural hand guiding us. So you do not need to sit and fret over your inadequacy. Instead, prepare your work as well as you can and entrust it to Him.

Your desire for a comfortable environment where there is great respect is a righteous one. When a person's ways please the Lord, He makes even their enemies to be at peace with them. You can be a wellspring of that peace. A person of understanding makes peace, not by stirring up strife or becoming a talebearer, but by holding their tongue and listening. Better a dry morsel with quietness than a house full of feasting and strife. You cannot control every colleague’s behavior, but you can refuse to be drawn into a morning brawl of adrenaline and anger. Sometimes the strongest witness is an unhurried spirit that rebukes the rush and harshness around you.

The peace of mind you are asking for is not found in the absence of pressure, but in remembering that God is at work within you. He is shaping you as a vessel, even through these exact circumstances that feel so heavy. His work inside you is often unconscious, gradual, and firm.
Commit the work of your hands and the worries of your heart to Him right now. His righteousness tends toward life, and He will keep your foot from being taken.
