anxiety

please pray for my sons anxiety. he is taking a college class of speech that starts today and he is so stressed out. please pray for peace for him.

We lift your son before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of anxiety and stress that can press upon a young person’s spirit, especially as he steps into new challenges like this college speech class. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." This is not just a promise, it is an invitation from our Heavenly Father to release our burdens into His hands and trust Him to carry them.

Father God, we come before You now in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your peace to flood Your son’s heart and mind as he begins this class. Calm the storm of fear and self-doubt that may be raging within him. Remind him that You have not given him a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Let him feel Your presence beside him as he speaks, knowing that You are his strength and his shield. Help him to remember that his worth is not found in the approval of others, but in the truth that he is fearfully and wonderfully made by You (Psalm 139:14). Give him the courage to step forward, even when his knees are weak, and the wisdom to speak with clarity and confidence.

We also pray for his instructor and classmates, that they would be instruments of encouragement rather than sources of added pressure. May Your Holy Spirit fill the room with grace, patience, and kindness, so that Your son can learn and grow in an atmosphere of support.

Mother, we encourage you to remind your son of God’s faithfulness in his life. Share with him stories of how the Lord has brought him through challenges in the past, and how He will do the same now. Encourage him to cast his cares upon the Lord (1 Peter 5:7) and to meditate on scriptures that speak of God’s peace and provision. Anxiety may whisper lies, but God’s Word is truth, and it will anchor his soul.

If your son does not yet know Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, now is the time to gently share the good news with him. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and it is only through Him that we can experience true and lasting peace. If he has not surrendered his life to Christ, pray with him and guide him to the foot of the cross, where anxiety is replaced with the assurance of eternal life.

We stand with you both in faith, believing that God will meet your son in this moment and carry him through. May he rise above his fears and walk in the confidence that comes from knowing he is loved and held by the Creator of the universe. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We can only imagine how your heart races alongside your son’s this morning. When someone we love is carrying that much stress, our own peace gets all tangled up in theirs. That speech class feels enormous to him, and to you it feels like watching him suffer.

Public speaking is one of the most common fears there is. What your son is going through is a normal, even expected, reaction, not a sign something is wrong with him, but a sign he’s stepping into something that matters. We often wish for a sudden wave of peace to wash all the anxiety away, and sometimes God grants that. But more often, peace comes quietly, step by step, as he walks through the day leaning on God. His courage is being built in the process, even when it doesn’t feel like it right now.

If it seems right, a simple text from you, no pressure to “calm down,” just “I’m praying for you”, can be a steadying reminder that he’s not facing this alone. That kind of quiet support lifts a burden without adding any words to manage.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this son to you. Meet him in his classroom, quiet his racing heart, and still his anxious thoughts. Give him a clear mind and a quiet nudge that you are with him. And please hold this mom close right now; settle her own spirit with your steady peace as she entrusts her son to you. In your name we pray, amen.

Your boy is standing at the edge of deep water this morning, and his heart is beating faster than the clock on the wall. The class begins today, and already he has lived through the speech a dozen times in his mind, each time the words sticking, each time the faces staring. You know that feeling; perhaps you have felt it yourself in other ways. And now you watch him carry it, and your own heart tightens because his trouble is yours.

Here is something to lay hold of for him, and for yourself as you pray. The peace our Lord Jesus gives does not wait until all the duties are done and the pressure is off. That would be a thin peace, a truce with circumstances, but Christ gives a peace that walks straight into the crowded hour and sits down in the middle of it. Think of a ship in a storm. The waves may crash against the hull all they please; so long as the water stays outside, the vessel rides safe. It is when the sea gets inside that the danger begins. So it is with your son. The assignment is the sea outside him. The dread of it, the churning, that is the water trying to get in. But Christ is able to seal the heart and keep the tumult where it belongs: on the outside.

One of the best things you can whisper to heaven for him, and perhaps to him, if the moment is right, is that he does not need to master the whole class, the whole semester, or even the whole speech at once. There is a little verse I love: When obstacles and trials seem like prison walls to be, I do the little I can do, and leave the rest to Thee. This is not laziness, it is sanity. It is the secret of doing the will of Jesus when thronging duties press. Right now, the little he can do is walk through the door, take his seat, breathe, listen, and when his turn comes, speak the words he has prepared, no more, no less. What is impossible for him is not his duty. The outcome does not rest on his shoulders; it rests with the One who holds every heart in His hand.

And remember this: your son’s peace with God is not touched by how smoothly he speaks. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, quite apart from grades and performances and the opinions of twenty classmates. If he belongs to Christ, he is already accepted, already beloved, already secure. That is the anchor. You can tell him, and you can tell your own anxious heart, that the Lord who stilled the sea with a word has not lost His voice. He is as near to your son in that classroom as ever He was to the disciples in the boat. Not a stutter, not a silence, not a trembling hand can separate him from that love.

Let me pray for you both.

Lord Jesus, You know what it is to face the crowd. You know the weight a young heart can feel when it seems every eye is watching and every word must be perfect. Draw near to this dear son today. Let Your peace, the peace You give, not the world’s flimsy imitation, stand guard over his mind. Calm the racing thoughts. Steady the quick pulse. Help him to do the little thing before him, and then to leave the rest entirely with You. And for this mother who loves him, grant her the deep quiet of heart that comes from placing her child in hands that were pierced for them both. In Your strong and tender name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your son as he began his college speech class. It’s been a few days since you shared this request, and we’ve been lifting him up before the Lord, asking for His peace to calm his heart and His strength to uphold him. We know how overwhelming anxiety can feel, especially when facing something new, and we’ve prayed that God would quiet his fears with the assurance of His presence.

If the Lord has already answered this prayer—if your son has felt a measure of peace or confidence in the days since class began—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If, however, the anxiety still lingers or new challenges have arisen, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We’re committed to continuing in prayer with you and your son, asking the Holy Spirit to minister comfort and courage to him in every moment.

May the Lord bless you both as you trust in Him. May He remind your son that he is not alone, that His grace is sufficient, and that even in moments of fear, God’s perfect love casts out all anxiety. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
