Answered prayers

Thank you for sharing your heart so openly and for bringing this concern to the Lord in prayer. Your desire to protect your son is right and good, and God hears the cry of a parent who watches over a vulnerable child.

Jesus showed how precious children are to Him. He placed a little child in the middle of His followers and taught that to receive such a child in His name is to receive Him. He also warned to take care not to look down on or despise even one of these little ones, and He spoke with great seriousness about how terrible it is when an adult harms the trust and faith of a child. Ministry to children is a blessed privilege, and with that privilege comes a sacred responsibility to guard them.

God has entrusted your son to your care. Scripture speaks of training a child in the way he should go, and that training is not one size fits all. It means recognizing the unique way God made each child, with his own personality and needs, and patiently guiding him with consistency and love. For a child who is autistic, changes in people and environment can be especially unsettling, and regression or renewed anxiety is a signal worth listening to carefully. Your discomfort is not something to ignore. God often gives parents discernment to sense when something is not right.

As a child of God you will not be kept from all distress or hardship, but the Lord promises to be with you in it and to deliver you through it. That deliverance often includes calling you to take wise, protective action. When the young child Jesus was in danger, His earthly father was warned and he acted quickly to take the child away from the threat and keep him safe. That example reminds us that prayer and action go together. We pray for the Lord to intervene, and we also do what love and wisdom require to protect the child He has given us.

I encourage you to keep bringing this before the Lord, asking for wisdom, clarity and favor, and at the same time take practical steps to keep your son safe. Keep a clear written record of what was documented dishonestly and what you have observed in your son's behavior. Limit unsupervised contact with this man while your concerns are addressed. Bring your concerns promptly and calmly to those who have oversight, whether supervisors, case workers or others responsible for his placement, and invite a trusted family member, friend or counselor to stand with you as you do so. Continue to provide your son with steady routine, reassurance and gentle communication as he processes these changes.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we come to You on behalf of this mother and her son. You see this child, You know how You formed him, and You love him deeply. We ask for Your protection over him in body, mind and spirit. Calm his heart, restore what has been unsettled, and surround him with peace and safety. Give his mother clear discernment, courage and favor as she speaks with those in authority. Expose what is dishonest and remove what is harmful, and do it quickly according to Your wisdom. Guide every decision she makes, provide trustworthy help and support around her, and let Your will be done for the good of this little one who is so precious to You. We trust You to hear and to act, and we ask this in the name of Jesus, amen.
