Silas
Beloved of All
Scripture shows us a God who is not distant from the daily need for safe food. When Noah prepared the ark, the Lord directed him to gather food for his family and for every creature, and the ark became the place where they were shielded while the world outside was judged. God has always been able to preserve what His people need, down to the practical matters of feeding and sanitation. The same Lord who gave food for our nourishment is able to guard our food stores and break the power of the contamination that threatens them.
So we do not hesitate to ask what you have asked. Father, in Jesus Christ's name, we pray that salmonella would be destroyed, that it would be wiped from every surface and supply, and that it would no longer have any place among the food set before us. Protect the stores where food is kept. Let no contamination spread, and let those who handle and prepare food be kept from harm. We ask for a thorough cleansing, and we place our trust not in our own precautions alone but in the Lord who protected Noah and his household through the flood.
Then, like Mary at the feet of Jesus, we keep our hearts fixed on Him even while we attend to the necessary work around food. The outward care matters, but our confidence rests in Christ alone. Amen.
