We join you in seeking the Lord’s strength as you fast, for this is a sacred discipline that draws us nearer to His heart. Fasting is not merely about abstaining from food but about hungering and thirsting for righteousness, as our Savior taught in Matthew 5:6, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled." The weakness of the flesh is an opportunity for the Spirit to rise within us, for as Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:10, "When I am weak, then I am strong."

We pray that the Lord would sustain you with His grace, that your fast would not be one of mere ritual but of true repentance, dependence, and communion with Him. May He reveal Himself to you in deeper ways, as Isaiah 58:6-9 promises: "Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light will break out as the morning, and your healing will appear quickly; then your righteousness shall go before you; and Yahweh’s glory will be your rear guard."

Let us lift you up before the throne of grace:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ who is seeking Your strength during this time of fasting. Lord, You are the source of all power, and we ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may not grow weary but press on in faith. Strengthen their body, mind, and spirit, and let this fast be pleasing in Your sight. Reveal any areas of their life that need repentance or surrender, and draw them closer to Your heart. May they experience the joy of Your presence and the peace that surpasses all understanding. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

Remember, fasting is a time to seek the Lord’s face, not just His hand. Let this season be one of intimacy with Him, where you lay down your own desires and pick up His will. If distractions or temptations arise, turn to Scripture and prayer, for the Word of God is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). You are not alone in this journey, we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord is with you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

We’re grateful you’ve shared this. Fasting is one of those quiet, often unseen ways we reach for more of God. We’ve found it helpful to think of it as training, not just a one-time effort. Like a runner slowly building endurance, the strength you’re asking for grows over days and weeks of faithful practice, even in small, ordinary moments. When the hunger pangs come, they can become a signal, not just to miss food, but to turn your heart toward God right then. A short breath of prayer, a whispered verse, a moment of simply acknowledging his nearness. That repetition trains our innermost self to depend on him.

As you continue, be gentle with yourself. The goal isn’t perfection but a steady drawing close. We’ll stand with you in that quiet place.

Lord Jesus, thank you for this one who is setting aside physical nourishment to seek you more deeply. Meet them in the moments of weakness and hunger, and fill them with your sustaining presence. Grant clear-minded strength, a quiet heart, and a deeper hunger for you alone. In your name, amen.

The act of fasting is a blessed means of drawing near to the Lord, yet it is in the barren soil of our own weakness that the sweet flower of Divine strength most often blooms. All strength apart from God is borrowed and must fail, but when you confess you have no might, the Lord increases strength. This is your hope: not in your own resolve to fast, but in waiting upon the Lord, in crying to Him who hears the desires of the humble.

Let your prayer be not a mere form but a pleading, an argument before the Throne of Grace. Spread your case before Him: tell Him you are weak, that without Him you can do nothing. Yet do not fall into the error of trusting your own self-denial as if it merited anything. True prayer is the humble grasping of the Invisible, relying solely upon the merit of Christ. Go over again that blessed covenant which made you one with God, rest there, and you shall renew your strength.

Trials and self-denial give new life to prayer, but be watchful against the self-conceit that drags the chariot wheels from supplication. It is not your fasting that brings down the power, but the Holy Spirit who strengthens the faint. When you are without strength, fling yourself upon Divine strength. He has said, “I will strengthen them,” and He will effectually do it in answer to prayer.

Persist then in the closet, both day and night, for though the answer may tarry, hope in God; you shall yet praise Him who is the strength of your life. As you wait upon Him in this season, remember that the most desirable strength is strength in the Lord, fitly infused, wisely balanced, and Divinely bestowed. So go forward, not looking to what you do without, but to what Christ has done and is doing within you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

A farmer who fasts from food but refuses to share his harvest with the hungry, what good is his empty stomach? His barns are full, his table spare, yet his soul grows fat with cruelty. The body may groan under discipline, but the heart remains stuffed with selfishness.

You ask for strength while fasting. That is good. But know this: fasting without almsgiving is not fasting at all. It is a mockery of the belly, a diet of vanity. The stomach may growl, but if the hand stays closed, you are worse than the drunkard who never fasted. He at least makes no pretense of virtue. The demons love a fasting man who clutches his coins; they fear the one who opens his hand. Prayer acquires wings when alms are its feathers. Otherwise it flutters on the ground and never rises.

Look at your own body. God gave you a mouth to sing hymns, a throat for sacred song, yet hunger reminds you of your limits. Nature itself restrains you so that you cannot gorge without pain. Why then do you gorge on possessions while starving the needy? The pleasure of a full purse is brief; the torment of a hard heart endures. Do you want strength? Let your fast be light and winged, joined to mercy. Then you will pray with fire, and no devil can withstand you.

You can do this. Though your body be weak, you can scorn luxury. Though you cannot fast continually, you can live simply and give freely. Let your self-denial at table become bread for the poor. Then your memorial will rise before God. Press on.

Your desire for strength while fasting is a good one, yet the secret of true strength is not found in the fasting itself but in the One for whom you set it apart. Fasting is meant to quiet the demands of the body so that your spirit can attend more fully to the Lord in prayer. It is not a lever to pry blessings from His hand, nor a performance to make your voice heard on high. When fasting is taken up as a mere formality or an attempt to obligate God, the heart can slip into self-deception, busy with outward discipline while neglecting the inward weight of humility and love.

The strength you seek grows best in the soil of weakness. When you deny the flesh and feel its hunger, you are reminded how dependent you truly are. That is a gift, for the power of God rests most fully on those who know they have none of their own. Do not fear the weariness of your body; let it drive you deeper into reliance on Him. As you fast, keep your mind stayed on the Lord through prayer and the Scriptures. The enemy would love to use this vulnerable season to distract or discourage you, so be watchful. The battle is always for control of your heart and mind, and fasting without prayer leaves you fighting with a dull blade.

Check the reason you fast. If it is to prove a point, to appear devout, or to wring an answer from heaven, then the exercise will leave you hollow. The fast God welcomes is the one that loosens the chains of wickedness, feeds the hungry, clothes the naked, and humbles itself before the face of God. So as you set aside food, set aside bitterness and self-regard as well. Intercede for others. Let your temporary denial of bread soften your heart toward those in need, and if you can, share something of your substance with them.

Remember that the Lord is your strength. He does not grow weary, and He promises to give power to His people and bless them with peace. Blessed is the one whose strength is in Him, who passes through the valley of weeping and turns it into a place of springs. Go forward in quiet trust, not fastening your confidence on the rigor of your fast but on the faithfulness of your God. He sees your inward desire, and He will meet you with exactly the grace you need.
