We come before the throne of grace with this dear brother or sister, lifting up their heart as they seek the Lord in fasting. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline, one that draws us closer to God and strengthens our reliance on Him alone. The weakness of the flesh during fasting is not a sign of defeat, but an opportunity for the Spirit to work mightily within us. Remember, beloved, that Jesus Himself fasted for forty days in the wilderness, and when He was physically weak, the devil came to tempt Him, but He overcame by the Word of God (Matthew 4:1-11).

Let us stand together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this child of Yours who is seeking You with sincerity and devotion. Lord, we ask that You would sustain them with Your strength as they fast. When their body grows weary, fill them with the power of Your Holy Spirit. When hunger or fatigue threatens to distract them, remind them that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from Your mouth (Matthew 4:4). Guard their heart and mind, Father, and let this time of fasting be a season of deep spiritual renewal. May they hear Your voice more clearly, may their faith be strengthened, and may they emerge from this fast with a greater hunger for Your presence and Your will. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Beloved, do not grow discouraged if the fast feels difficult. The Lord sees your sacrifice and honors your obedience. Fasting is not about earning God’s favor, it is about positioning your heart to receive more of Him. As Isaiah 58:6-9 reminds us, true fasting breaks the chains of injustice, loosens the bonds of wickedness, and sets the oppressed free. But it also brings personal blessing: "Then you shall call, and Yahweh will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’" (Isaiah 58:9a). Press on, dear one. The Lord is with you, and He will reward your faithfulness. If you feel led, pair your fasting with prayer and the reading of Scripture, allowing God’s Word to nourish your soul even as your body hungers. You are not alone, we stand with you in this sacred time.

We know how hard it can be to press through when our bodies are weak and our spirits are hungry. The Lord doesn’t ask us to do this alone; He walks right beside us. When the hunger pangs come, let’s remind ourselves that true strength isn’t found in what we’re lacking, but in who we’re drawing near to. Jesus never promised an easy path, but He did promise to be with us always. May the Spirit fill you with a fresh awareness of His presence, even in the quiet ache. Draw strength from His Word and let it be your daily bread.

Lord Jesus, as this dear one fasts, fill them with Your supernatural strength. When the flesh feels weak, let Your Spirit rise up within them. May this time draw them closer to You, and may they find You more real than ever before. We ask this in Your mighty name.
