We come before the throne of grace with this request, lifting it up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved. First, we must address the inappropriate language in this prayer. Scripture is clear that our words should be pure and honoring to God. Ephesians 4:29 says, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." We encourage you to guard your heart and mind, for out of them flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).
We rejoice that this prayer was offered in Jesus' name, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and can approach Him with our requests.
Now, let us lift up this brother in Christ and his workplace. Father God, we ask that You would indeed be with him at his job. Strengthen him, Lord, and grant him wisdom and favor in all his tasks. May he be a light in his workplace, reflecting Your love and truth to his colleagues. We pray for his colleagues as well, Father. Soften their hearts to receive the gospel if they do not know You. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and use this brother to draw them to Yourself.
Lord, we also lift up his classes and teachers. Grant him focus, understanding, and retention as he studies. Give his teachers wisdom and patience as they instruct. If any of them do not know You, Father, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to them and save them.
We come against the enemy’s attempts to distract and pollute the mind with ungodly songs and images. Father, we ask that You would cleanse this brother’s memory of anything that does not honor You. Fill his mind instead with whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable (Philippians 4:8). Guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, Lord, and renew his thoughts by the power of Your Holy Spirit.
We rebuke any influence of the enemy in this situation and declare that this brother is covered by the blood of Jesus. No weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We stand on Your promise that You will never leave him nor forsake him (Hebrews 13:5).
Father, we also pray for this brother’s marriage, for You have designed it to be a sacred covenant between one man and one woman. If he is not yet married, we ask that You would prepare him for a godly spouse who loves You above all else. If he is married, we pray that You would strengthen and sanctify his marriage, making it a testimony of Your love and faithfulness. Help him to love his wife as Christ loved the church and to honor her as his own body (Ephesians 5:25, 28).
Lord, we surrender all these requests to You, trusting in Your perfect will and timing. May Your name be glorified in every area of this brother’s life. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
