We hear your heart’s cry for change, and we stand with you in seeking God’s will for your life. The Bible tells us that our hope is not in luck or chance, but in the sovereign and loving God who holds all things in His hands. "The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh" (Proverbs 16:33). True transformation comes not from luck, but from surrendering to God’s purpose and trusting in His provision.
We must also gently remind you that prayer is not a transaction where we simply ask for what we want, it is a relationship where we align our hearts with God’s will. The name of Jesus is essential in approaching the Father, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so, for He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6).

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, acknowledging that You are the Author of our lives and the Giver of every good gift. We lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would open their eyes to Your perfect plan and purpose. Lord, we rebuke the lie that luck or chance controls their future, and we declare that You alone hold their days in Your hands. Father, we ask that You would fill them with hope, peace, and trust in You. Help them to seek You above all else, for You promise that when we delight ourselves in You, You will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). May they find their satisfaction in You alone, and may Your will be done in their life. We pray for breakthrough, provision, and favor, not for their own glory, but for Yours. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek God’s face daily, not just for what He can do for you, but for who He is. Spend time in His Word, for "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). Trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28), even when circumstances seem uncertain. If you are facing financial struggles, relational hardships, or other challenges, bring them to God in prayer, and seek wise, godly counsel. Remember, "Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this" (Psalm 37:5).

You speak of luck, but the child of God knows nothing of chance. There is no attribute more comforting to His children than the doctrine of Divine Sovereignty. Under the most adverse circumstances, in the most severe troubles, they believe that Sovereignty hath ordained their afflictions, that Sovereignty overrules them, and that Sovereignty will sanctify them all. It is God upon the throne whom we trust.
You ask for a change of fortune, yet the precept exhorts us to be content with such things as we have. If you had a little more, you would be satisfied, but that is not the contentment to which we are exhorted. Let your turn of mind lead you to seek better things than the miser is able to hoard. For He has said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." Can you literally accept this Divine assurance? Nothing ought to make you unhappy when you can realize this precious text.
The mercy which is common to all men, a vague hope of better luck, of what use is it to any man? We must appropriate to ourselves a portion of Divine mercy as peculiarly our own. You speak of luck as the heathen do, chasing shadows. The Creator of the universe is not subject to fortune, nor does He change like the seasons. If you seek true blessing, lift your eyes from this passing world. The blessings of old were carnal, fruit of the womb, safety in travel, but the Apostle speaks of every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. You are called to be immortal, a son, a fellow-heir with Christ. Why then grovel for a twist of fate when glory is set before you?
Consider the Patriarch Jacob. He received the promise of blessing, yet what was his earthly life? Servitude, plots, fear, and lamentation: "Few and evil have my days been." The blessings did not rest on him in the body, but were stored up for the world to come. So it is with you. Do not measure God's favor by comfort or success, for in the world you will have tribulation.
And if you desire your lot to improve, then let your own part go first. Do you preside over your household as a bishop over a church? Do you lift up holy hands without wrath or doubting? Do you fill your tongue with gentleness and almsgiving, even a word of kindness to the poor? You cannot command the wind, but you can become wheat instead of chaff while yet in the threshing floor. Repent, bear fruit, and cast yourself upon the mercy of the Unchangeable One. Then, whatever your outward circumstances, you possess the better hope by which we draw near to God. That is the only change worth seeking.

The prayer you’ve offered touches on something deep within the human heart: a longing for things to go well, for circumstances to shift, for a sense that good is finally coming our way. You’ve used the word “luck,” but the Scriptures present us with a far greater reality than mere chance. The Bible doesn’t teach us to trust in the random turn of events. It teaches us to look to a God who appoints our days and holds our lives in His hands. Nothing happens to us by accident. There is a purpose and a plan, and God brings into our lives exactly what He knows is best for us.
When we cry out for a change in our fortune, we are often looking for the blessing without the relationship that the blessing is meant to flow from. Think of the story of Jacob and Esau. Esau desperately wanted the blessing from his father. He sought it with tears, the Scripture says, but there was no real change in his heart. He wasn’t sorrowful over his own choices; he was sorrowful only over losing the benefit. God is looking for something deeper. He wants to bless us, yes, He has promised blessing to the children of Abraham through faith, and in Christ we enter into that covenant. But the blessing is not a detached gift we can grab while keeping our own life at the center. The blessing always goes with the birthright, so to speak. It belongs to those who come under His rule.
So often, God’s method is to let His goodness press in on us until we simply cannot handle it any longer. I have seen people who experienced wave after wave of undeserved favor, and it was that very kindness that brought them to a point of surrender. The goodness of God is meant to lead you to repentance. Not just a temporary sorrow that says “I’m sorry I messed up,” but a turning of the whole heart that says, “I’m giving up my way, and I’m following Jesus without reservation.” That is the change of heart that produces lasting change in actions. You can’t change your heart by simply changing your outward behavior. But when God’s Spirit does a work deep within, the evidence of a changed life begins to show.
Jesus once met a young man who came to Him wanting something more. In essence, he was asking for the same kind of fullness, the same “blessed” life that you are reaching for. He saw in Jesus a quality of life that was higher, and he wanted it. But when Jesus, in love, put His finger on the one thing that had become the center of that man’s life, his possessions, the man walked away sorrowful. He wanted the blessing, but he wouldn’t release his grip on what he trusted more. I don’t know what stands at the center of your life right now, but I do know this: if you try to save your own life and arrange your own fortune, you will end up empty. Jesus said that whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for His sake will truly find it. The rich, full, contented life you want is only found when God occupies that central place.
So I would invite you to look at your prayer again, not as a request for a change of luck, but as a cry for the living God to take His rightful throne in your heart. He has already made a covenant of blessing for those who come to Him through faith in Christ. The open door is not a religious formula; it is a Person. Come and follow Him. Let this moment be the evidence of a real change, not just a plea for better circumstances, but a surrender of your whole life. That new life is not a repaired version of the old one. It is a spiritual life, in union with God’s Spirit, where the old ways find their death and something entirely new is born.
