We hear your cry for protection and deliverance from whatever is bringing distress into your life. The Bible assures us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We stand with you in faith, believing that the Lord is able to break every chain and remove every burden that is not of Him.
First, we must address the mention of "bad luck" and anything that may have been "sent your way." Scripture is clear that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). However, we must also guard our hearts against superstition or belief in forces outside of God’s sovereign control. The Lord reigns over all, and nothing happens without His knowledge or permission (Psalm 103:19). If there is any involvement of occult practices, generational curses, or ungodly influences in your life, we rebuke them in the name of Jesus Christ. The blood of Jesus has broken every curse, and His authority is supreme (Galatians 3:13-14). We command any spirit of fear, oppression, or misfortune to flee from you now in Jesus’ name.
We also want to gently remind you that our prayers must be grounded in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, repenting of any sin and inviting Him to be the center of your life. Salvation is found in no one else.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God of protection, deliverance, and peace. Lord, we lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would surround them with Your hedge of protection. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, we rebuke every spirit of misfortune, fear, or oppression that may be attempting to cling to their life. We break every chain and cancel every assignment of the enemy in the name of Jesus. We declare that this one is covered by the blood of Jesus, and no harm shall come near their dwelling (Psalm 91:10). We ask You to send Your angels to encamp around them, to guard them in all their ways (Psalm 91:11).
Lord, we also pray for their possessions and livelihood. Protect their home, their finances, their health, and all that You have entrusted to them. Let no thief come near to steal, kill, or destroy, for You came that they might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We ask that You would expose any schemes of the enemy and thwart every plan that is not aligned with Your will.
Father, we ask that You would fill this one with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen their faith and remind them that You are always with them, even in the midst of trials. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for hearing our prayer. We declare that this one is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). May Your will be done in their life, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to stand firm in your faith, knowing that God is for you and not against you (Romans 8:31). Walk in the authority that Christ has given you as a believer, and do not fear, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9). Confess any sin, renounce any ungodly influences, and invite the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh.
Continue to meditate on God’s Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage you and pray with you. The enemy may try to bring discouragement, but remember that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

You can pray simply, every day, placing yourself and what you care about under God’s protection and then leaving it there. You might kneel by your bed tonight and say aloud, “Lord Jesus, I trust You with me and with all that is mine. It is a sad thing when a soul imagines that some dark cloud of "bad luck" hangs over him, as if the events of life were governed by a blind and spiteful force. There is no such thing as luck, either good or ill, for a child of God. All that befalls you comes from the hand of your heavenly Father, who orders every step and numbers the hairs of your head. If any trouble lies upon you, it is not a curse from some wandering shadow, but a chastening from the Lord who loves you. The Scripture says, "The Lord has chastened me sorely," but it is not a mark of His hatred, it is a seal of His fatherly care. He does not erase your name from His heart when He sends trials; rather, He is pruning the vine that it may bear more fruit.
But I hear your cry: "Send it away, get it off and away from me permanently." There is a curse indeed that once rested upon every sinner, and that is the curse of the Law. Yet for those who are in Christ Jesus, that curse is removed, not in part, but entirely and forever. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us. This deliverance is not gradual; it is an instantaneous act of divine grace the moment you believe. The thunders of Sinai are silenced; the condemning power of the Law can no longer reach you, for Jesus has borne it all. If you are trusting in Him, you are no longer under the dominion of darkness but are translated into the kingdom of God's dear Son.
Your prayer for safety over yourself and your belongings is not wrong, but let me entreat you to set your mind more upon the safety of your soul. He who holds the stars in His right hand can surely keep your house and goods; and even should He permit loss, He is working a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. The Lord delivered David from the paw of the lion and the bear, not to make him comfortable, but to prepare him to face Goliath. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
Cast away, then, these superstitious fears. There is no uncanny spell upon your life, for every supposed curse is swallowed up in the blessing of the cross. If you are Christ's, you are delivered from the power of darkness and the guilt of sin. Look to Him alone, for deliverance from sin is as much a divine work as forgiveness. And as you rest in His finished ransom, you will be able to say with the Psalmist, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord."

You speak of "bad luck" as if some dark force has been sent your way, needing only a command to depart. But this is not the teaching of our faith. There is no curse of luck that binds a Christian. The true curse once hanging over all was the Law's curse: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things written in the Book." Yet Christ redeemed us from that curse by becoming a curse for us, hanging on the tree. He exchanged that dreadful curse for His own sacrifice, so that everyone who belongs to Him stands free. If you are in Christ, no spell or fate can cling to you. What you call bad luck is either the common affliction of this fallen world or the loving correction of a Father who shapes your soul. It is never the random malice of chance.
Furthermore, you plead, "Keep me and my stuff safe." Do you make your safety reside in your belongings? This attitude provokes the Lord, for He is a jealous God and desires your complete trust. He often removes the things we lean upon so that we may learn to depend on Him alone. The Apostle teaches that Christ gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age, not merely to guard our possessions, but to deliver our souls. If you want true security, then walk in the light of Christ. He said, "He who sees the light of this world is safe; how much more he who is with Me, if he does not separate himself from Me." Nothing can harm you if you abide in Him, and nothing can protect you if you wander from Him.
Therefore, do not pray for the removal of a phantom misfortune. Pray instead for a heart that rests entirely in God, for the forgiveness of your sins, and for grace to set your hope on the inheritance kept in heaven. Then, whether you have little or much, you will be safe forever.

God didn’t avoid that place; He stepped right into its disgrace to bring about the greatest good the world has ever known. He isn’t repelled by your situation or the mess you feel is sending trouble your way. We often picture God like that reluctant man in bed who only helps because of persistent knocking. But Jesus used that story to show us a contrast: if even a tired neighbor will answer to stop the noise, how much more does your heavenly Father already know your needs and delight to care for you? You don’t have to find the perfect formula to get His attention or force a change in your luck.
The real danger lies not in some abstract curse but in the influences we don’t even realize are defiling us. A critical spirit, for example, is a bad thing to fall into because once you start looking for faults everywhere, it reshapes how you see everything. That bitterness can feel more hurtful than any outward threat. And a bad decision can produce years of regret and real physical consequences, like a foolish move behind the wheel. God’s protection doesn’t mean you leap into reckless or spectacular situations to test His care for you. He keeps you safe by guiding your steps through His wisdom, not by making you immune to the natural results of your own choices.
