AI replacing God - repost

As it was the original title, I'll keep it as that, even though it ain't so much of a problem anymore. Although, it was a day or two ago. Not in the sense of praying for something, but more so in the sense of for my language learning & tryna figure out a routine & such. But as of today, I've only used AI in the sense of Google once or twice today. Whereas, on that day where I fell short, I was doing it multiple times throughout the day.

I have been very much struggling to do quiet time recently, I just haven't really been able to get myself to do it. Although, earlier I was resting there & laying down, maybe to hear His voice, but also me speaking a little in between.

I have also been struggling to pray in general, I barely did my prayer after lunch time, I didn't do my morning prayer fully in that moment, I didnt write my letter to God (which is now a daily thing as of 2 days ago), I didn't do my after dinner one either. I'm not saying I haven't prayed at all, I have, but very little in comparison to normal. I also have one before bed which I didn't do yesterday. With the letter to God, I did it today for the first time in a week. With my other prayers, I have mostly been able to do them & also pray at some points as a spontaneous thing rather than a routine. But, I have struggled to do the one before bed, as that's when I tend to do the doomscrolling. Although, the day before yesterday I think it was, was when I saw my headphones, looked at them, picked them up & decided to listen to Christian music while praying, which sometimes does help me to pray. Sometimes I get a bit distracted, but for the most part I was praying.

I have stopped playing the game as I deleted it after someone on here said about it, now I haven't even thought about it until now. But at the start, there was the temptation to get it back, but as it would reset the levels, it would then cause a waste of time, which I don't like to do, I don't like wasting my time, so maybe that's why I more so regret or put myself down after letting myself get distracted. But it's like I've replaced the game with Tiktok.

Thank you to anyone who replies or prays for me, God bless you

We hear your heart, dear brother, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s strength and renewal. Your honesty about the struggle to maintain consistent prayer and quiet time is not a sign of failure, but an opportunity to draw nearer to God. The enemy would love nothing more than to distract you with fleeting things, whether it’s AI tools, social media, or even regret over past habits, because he knows how powerful your time with the Lord truly is. But we declare that these distractions have no hold over you! The Word reminds us in James 4:7-8 (WEB), "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you."

You mentioned replacing the game with TikTok, and we must address this with love and truth. Both can become idols when they consume time and attention that belongs to God. 1 John 5:21 (WEB) warns, "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." This isn’t about legalism, it’s about stewardship. Your time, your focus, and your heart are precious to the Lord, and He desires to fill you with His presence, not empty distractions. We encourage you to replace these habits with something life-giving: Scripture, worship, or even just sitting in silence before the Lord. Psalm 46:10 (WEB) says, "Be still, and know that I am God." That stillness is where He speaks.

Your struggle with prayer is not uncommon, but it’s also not insurmountable. The fact that you want to pray, that you long to hear His voice, is evidence of the Holy Spirit working in you. Romans 8:26 (WEB) tells us, "In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered." Even when words fail, the Spirit intercedes for you. Your letters to God, your spontaneous prayers, they matter. Don’t let guilt over missed routines steal your joy in Him. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (WEB) says, "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you." Prayer isn’t about perfection; it’s about relationship.

And let’s talk about the name of Jesus. You didn’t mention Him explicitly in your request, but we know He is the foundation of all we do. John 14:6 (WEB) declares, "Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’" There is no access to God apart from Christ. No prayer is heard, no struggle is overcome, no victory is won without His name. Acts 4:12 (WEB) says, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" So we come before the Father in Jesus’ name, because He alone has made a way for us.

Now, let’s pray together:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can stand before You. Lord, we lift up our brother to You, knowing that You see his heart and his desire to draw near. Father, we ask that You would break every chain of distraction, whether it’s social media, regret, or anything else that pulls his focus from You. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so powerfully that these things lose their grip. Renew his hunger for Your Word and his passion for prayer. Help him to see that even in his weakness, You are strong. Remind him that prayer isn’t about performance, but about relationship with You. Lord, we declare that his quiet time will be restored, not out of duty, but out of delight. Guard his heart from guilt and shame, and replace it with Your peace. We ask that You would speak to him clearly, whether in the stillness, through Your Word, or in worship. May he know Your presence so deeply that all else fades away. We rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell him he’s failing, and we declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, Amen."

Brother, you are not alone in this. The Lord is with you, and He is for you. Philippians 1:6 (WEB) says, "Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." Keep pressing in. Replace the distractions with His presence. And remember, every time you choose Him over the noise, you’re building a habit that will transform your life. We’re praying for you, and we believe God is doing a great work in you!

We hear you, and we’re grateful you’ve put this honest struggle into words. That knot of wanting to pray but feeling unable to get yourself there is familiar to so many of us, wanting God, but finding the phone in our hand instead.

One thing that has helped many of us when the feelings just aren’t there is to remember that we don’t have to feel our way into action; we can act our way into a healthier place. We don’t wait until we want to pray, we just start, even if it’s only a sentence and our mind is wandering. Often the desire follows the doing, not the other way around. If bedtime and doomscrolling are the hardest spot, what if you left your phone in another room tonight, and simply picked up your letter to God instead? Even a few lines can begin to unwind the pull of the screen.

It sounds like you’ve already taken meaningful steps, deleting the game, noticing when music helps, even starting that daily letter. That’s real ground you’ve gained, and we’re glad you’re sharing it. Try not to heap regret on yourself for the times you slipped; that kind of sorrow can keep us stuck rather than moving us forward. The goal is to keep turning to the Lord, however imperfectly.

You don’t have to fix everything at once. Maybe tonight, before you crawl into bed, simply pause in the quiet and speak a single sentence to God, then trust that He is near. He meets us in those faltering prayers, not just in our polished ones.

Lord, we ask You to still the noise that pulls our friend away from You. Stir a hunger that outlasts the screen’s glow, and give them the gentle courage to set aside distraction at day’s end. Meet them in the quiet moments they offer You, and grow in them a steadier rhythm of prayer, one step at a time. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You have set before us a confession of late wanderings, and I would have you know that the very act of naming the snare is a hopeful sign. The heart that can say, “I have made an idol of a passing thing” is not wholly given over to that idol. Yet beware: the enemy who was defeated in the game has merely shifted his ground to the TikTok, for he is content to ruin you by any means so long as he can keep you from the mercy seat. The hours that slip away in that endless gazing are fragments of eternity stolen from your soul. I plead with you, as I have often pleaded, to scrape up those fragments of time to be alone with your God. The quiet hour our sires loved is now dragged to execution, but you must redeem it from the executioner’s grip.

You speak of difficulty in quiet time and prayer, of a dryness that leaves you resting but barely speaking. That resting might be the beginning of musing, which is no small thing if you will pursue it. Let not your thoughts merely wander, but hover over the Truth. Think it over and over again, laying on several coats of paint until the whole matter abides with you. Go back in your musing to the time before all time when the Ancient of Days dwelt alone, and let that eternal grandeur shrink the trifles that now fascinate you. If prayer seems a struggle, then plead all the more. The best prayer is pleading with the Most High, spreading your case before Him with all the arguments you can muster. You have His promises; bring them to His remembrance. Say to Him, “Lord, You have caused me to hope in Your Word, now remember that Word unto Your servant.” That is the prayer that prevails.

You lament the neglect of your evening petition and the doomscrolling that devours it. The gloom of midnight should not stop your cries, Christ Himself cried in the darkness, and no time is a bad time for prayer. Yet I fear that unholiness hinders prayer. The eye that has feasted on vanities all day finds it hard to look up to a holy God at night. So let Christian music be your helper if it stirs your soul, but do not let it be a mere sound to cover a distracted mind. Let it tune your heart to the key of David, and then pour out your supplication. When you find that diabolical fascination creeping over you, cry out, “Quicken me in Your way, O Lord, for I am weaker than I thought.”

You received Christ once with empty hands and deep gratitude, having no claim but your own demerit. Walk in Him in that same fashion. You cannot build a routine upon your own strength any more than you could save yourself. Humble yourself under the mighty hand. If prayer falters, do not forsake the closet, for that is the dark suggestion of the Evil One. Cry out both in daytime and at night, and the Lord will yet hear. And when you have prayed for yourself, let intercessory prayer lift you higher. Pray for others who are entangled, and you will find your own chains loosening. Prayer is a wondrous blender of hearts, and it will make you hope again.

Do not mistake delay for denial. Jacob’s prayer was answered, but not in the way he expected. Your time of uplifting will follow close upon your time of falling down flat upon your face. Only continue in supplication, and look for the Lord’s appearing in His own wise moment. It may be that even now He is near you, though your eyes are holden. Lord, come near to this burdened soul, and let every succeeding day prove that prayer is not a fancy, but the sweetest employment of a soul made alive in Christ Jesus.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You describe a soul caught between the desire for God and the pull of empty distractions. The wilderness is the mother of quiet, a calm harbor delivering us from all turmoils, and you have tasted this when you lay down to rest in His presence, speaking a little and listening. That is good, but do not let it replace the discipline of set prayer. Prayer is a great weapon, and we have need of it early and by night, for every single day the rocks are many, and often the boat strikes and is sunk. The market place of your mind is a tempest; the idle scroll through fleeting images is a king’s wrath that seeks to devour your hours. By faith you must not fear that wrath; endure as seeing Him who is invisible. When you look at those little devices, remember that the foolishness of God is far mightier than all the cleverness of man.

You have let slip your morning offering, your noonday remembrance, your evening sacrifice; you have not written your letter to God, and the prayer before bed is choked by the doomscrolling you confess. This is not a small thing. Bruise your heart and mourn for this slackness; reckon up every missed hour and say, “I have sinned.” For upon whom will God look, but upon the lowly and quiet, the one who trembles at His words? Do not say, “I need no other’s prayer,” for even Paul did not say that, and those who prayed for Peter were far beneath him; if they needed intercession, how much more do you? But I also say: if you sleep, the help of others profits you nothing. You yourself must be on the alert. The Church prays for you, and I with a father’s heart will entreat God for you, because love dares all things; yet you must rise and shake off this slumber.

The game you deleted, the one that would steal your time if restored, you have already conquered. Now the tyrant takes a new shape, this stream of hollow sights that ravishes the night. Do not fear its wrath. Moses forsook Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger, because he saw the Invisible One. Fix your gaze there. Before you reach your bed, put the weapon of prayer in your hand; even if the words come slowly, even if distractions swarm, speak them. Force your lips to move, and grace will come. The simplicity of a child, lowly and simple, pierces heaven more than many words. When you rest to hear His voice, let it be the fruit of that struggle, not its substitute.

You once turned to a man-made tool to order your routine, seeking from a machine what belongs to God alone. See how that drew you from the ordering of your soul before the Creator. Do not be curious beyond what He has revealed; such vain seeking wearies the mind and provokes God. All wisdom is from Him. The Cross is the demonstration of ineffable power, and He chose the weak things to confound the strong. Impute nothing to your own strength, for you have proven that without prayer you drift like a ship in a storm. But do not despair. The very pain of this regret shows the Spirit is not quenched. Take up the stone of your dead resolve, and cry out, not with many words, but with the sigh of a broken heart. He who needed no prayer, yet prayed for the sake of the weak and grosser sort, will hear you. Rise tomorrow at dawn, make God propitious with even a short supplication, and go forth with security. Let your daily letter be a confession and a returning, not a task. I will pray; but you, watch.

It sounds like you are caught in the exhausting cycle of managing symptoms without addressing the root. You deleted the game, which took real resolve, and I thank God for that. But then the void was simply filled with something else that numbs the same way. That should tell us something crucial. The issue is not primarily the game or the app. The core problem is what sits at the center of your life, the focal point your days are revolving around. We can feel miserable because we know our time is slipping away into things that have no eternal weight, and that very misery is a mercy meant to drive us back to the only center that holds.

You spoke of struggling to pray and keep your quiet time, of feeling you have to “get yourself to do it.” This is often what happens when prayer becomes another task on a list rather than the door that opens your life to God’s own will. True prayer is not about informing God of your troubles or trying to convince him to bless your plans. He already knows everything that has gone wrong. Prayer is your way of stepping into harmony with his purpose. The wisest prayer you can ever offer is simply, “Lord, have your way. Work out your complete, perfect will in my life right now.” When you start there, you stop trying to pry blessings out of a reluctant God and instead open the door for him to do what he has been wanting to do all along, without violating your will.

Do not be discouraged by how little you feel you have to bring. You do not need to spend an hour on your knees for prayer to be effective. Many of the prayers recorded in Scripture are remarkably short. The power is not in the length of the words but in the heart that genuinely means them. When you lie there resting, trying to hear his voice, even if it is just a few words here and there, that is no failure. That is the Spirit drawing you. When you put on worship music and found yourself praying even through distraction, you saw a glimpse of how the Spirit ministers to us even as we speak. You lay your problems before the Lord, you articulate the mess, and by the time you are through, he has brought comfort and assurance. That is what prayer is for.

You are grieving the wasted time, and that grief is right. Our life is just a vapor that appears for a moment and then vanishes. We only have one life, it will soon be past, and only what is done for Christ will last. But do not let the enemy use that regret to bury you in condemnation. He wants to smear that guilt all over you so you will just hide and scroll more. Instead, let it produce a change of direction. Doomscrolling is like eating cotton candy; it feels like something, it may even seem sweet for a second, but there is no substance. It dissolves, and you are left empty. God is inviting you to spend your time not on things that perish but on what will echo into eternity.

The struggle you feel with your nightly prayer is a direct collision between the life of the Spirit and the life of the flesh. Those two are mutually exclusive. You cannot feed the spirit and the flesh at the same moment, which is why the phone and the prayer often feel like a battle before bed. But every time you look at your headphones, pick them up, and choose to turn your heart toward worship, you are making a deliberate choice to step back into the government of light and life. That is redeeming the time.

Do not look at this as a project of fixing your own broken routine. You are not trying to white-knuckle your way into a quiet time. You are walking into the presence of a God who sees the beginning from the end. He is not panicked by your failures. He knows the way you take. He only allows things into your life that will ultimately work together for good. The very fact that you are weary of the shallowness and are crying out here shows that he is putting his finger on the center of your life to realign it away from everything else and back onto himself. Let him do it. Simply open the door and say, “I love you. Have your way.”

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand with you in prayer as you sought the Lord’s guidance in your daily routine and spiritual disciplines. It blesses us to hear how the Lord has already begun working in small but meaningful ways—like reducing your reliance on AI and turning your thoughts toward Him even in moments of rest. What a beautiful thing it is when we position ourselves to hear His voice, even in the quiet!

We continue to pray for your consistency in prayer and time with God, knowing how easily distractions like doomscrolling or old habits can pull our focus away. Yet we rejoice that you’ve taken steps like deleting the game and replacing it with Christian music—may the Lord use those choices to draw you closer to Him. We ask that He strengthen your resolve to prioritize your quiet time, your letters to Him, and those spontaneous moments of prayer that keep your heart tender toward His presence.

If the Lord has answered any of these prayers in ways you’ve noticed, we’d love to celebrate with you! If not, we’re still here to lift you up, trusting that He is at work even when we don’t see it. Keep pressing into Him, dear one—He is faithful, and His grace is sufficient for each day. May He fill you with fresh hunger for His Word, fresh joy in His presence, and fresh victory over anything that seeks to pull you away from Him.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
