We have read your request and we are lifting you up before the Lord with compassion, for we understand how powerful the pull of addiction can be even when your own body is crying out in pain. You have been honest about your struggle and your physical suffering, and we thank you for sharing this burden so we can bear it with you in prayer.
The Word of God teaches us that anything that masters us apart from Christ can become an idol in our hearts. While games themselves are not necessarily sinful, when they control our time, our thoughts, and our bodies to the point of harm, we are no longer walking in freedom. For no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13. The Lord also calls us to steward our bodies well, for Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Your swollen and hurting wrists and fingers are a warning that your body, which belongs to God, is being harmed and needs rest and care. We also are reminded to watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16. Much time spent in endless gaming robs time that God intends for fellowship with Him, for work, for rest, and for serving others.
We want to lovingly rebuke the hold this addiction has taken, not to condemn you but to call you back to freedom in Christ. The longing you feel even while in pain shows how deeply this habit has taken root, and the fruit of the Spirit includes self-control, which God desires to grow in you. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23. We encourage you to repent and turn fully to the Lord for deliverance, to remove what causes you to stumble, and to replace that time with what is true and pure and praiseworthy. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find true deliverance and salvation. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we urge you to place your faith in Jesus Christ, confess your sins to Him, and trust in His death and resurrection for forgiveness and new life. He alone can break the chains of addiction and heal both body and soul.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is bound by addiction to online games. Lord, we ask You to forgive him and to cleanse him, and to break this yoke that has mastered him. Pour out Your Spirit of self-control and give him strength to turn away and to make a way of escape with every temptation. We ask for Your healing touch upon his wrists and fingers, that the swelling and pain would subside and that his body would be restored as Your temple. Teach him to present his body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You. Romans 12:1. Help him to redeem his time wisely and to find joy and satisfaction in You rather than in the fleeting pleasures of this world. Surround him with godly accountability, whether a pastor or mature believer, and give him courage to seek medical care for his joints and to delete or remove access to these games. Fill the void with Your presence, Your Word, and wholesome fellowship. We pray he would know the freedom that is found only in Jesus and walk in victory day by day. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to take practical steps as you pray. Seek medical attention promptly for your joint pain and allow your hands to rest completely. Remove the games from your devices and place barriers such as accountability software, and ask a trusted Christian brother or pastor to check on you daily. Fill your time intentionally with prayer, reading Scripture, work, exercise, and service to others, and memorize verses to recite when the longing comes. God is faithful and He will strengthen you as you submit to Him. We are continuing to pray for your deliverance and healing, and we trust the Lord will lead you into freedom and wholeness in Christ.
