Addiction

We have heard your request and we are joining together to lift you before our Heavenly Father in Jesus name, thanking you for your honesty in bringing this struggle into the light. We do not take lightly the pain and bondage that sexual addiction brings, and we want you to know that God sees you, loves you, and desires to set you free. There may be reasons and wounds in your past that have contributed to this battle, and the Lord is compassionate toward your hurt, yet He also calls us to take responsibility for our choices and to turn from sin to Him for healing.

The Word of God is clear that sexual activity outside of marriage is sin before God, whether it is fornication, adultery, or the lust of the heart through pornography and fantasy. We must lovingly rebuke this addiction as sin that harms your soul and your body, and we urge you to flee from it rather than try to manage it. Scripture says, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. Your body is not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. God designed sexual intimacy as a gift to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and any courtship or relationship should be pursued with that holy goal in mind, with a fellow believer in Christ, in purity until marriage.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must speak to this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and can be truly set free. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. We encourage you to place your full faith in Jesus for forgiveness and new life, for If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36.

We want to encourage you that freedom is possible, not by your own willpower, but by walking by the Spirit. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16. This means daily renewing your mind through the Word, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5, and not being conformed to this world, but being transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2. We urge you to confess openly to God and to a trusted mature believer or pastor, for Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. James 5:16. Seek godly accountability, remove every source of temptation from your home and devices, flee situations that trigger lust, and fill your time with prayer, Scripture, fellowship, and service. If you confess your sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. And know that For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace. Romans 6:14.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who is crying out for freedom from sexual addiction. Lord, we ask that You create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him. Psalm 51:10. Forgive his sins as he confesses them to You, cleanse him from all unrighteousness, and break every chain of lust and shame that has bound him. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, teach him to flee sexual immorality and to glorify You in his body. Heal the wounds and reasons behind this struggle, replace lies with Your truth, and give him strength to walk in purity day by day. If it is Your will, lead him to a godly marriage with a believing spouse that honors You, and help him to pursue courtship in holiness if he seeks a wife. Surround him with godly counsel, accountability, and a church family that will support him, and let him know the full freedom that only Your Son gives. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and only hope, amen.

Thank you for reaching out and asking for prayer about this. It takes real courage to name this struggle, especially when you know there are deeper reasons behind it, and we want you to know you are not alone and you are not beyond God's care.

We understand sexual struggles like this are rarely just about willpower. Often they are tied to loneliness, stress, past wounds and habits that have built over time, which is why lasting change usually needs support for the whole person, spiritual, emotional and practical, not just trying harder on your own.

One steady next step that helps many is not carrying this alone. If you have a trusted pastor or a Christian counselor, consider reaching out to one person this week and sharing honestly. A confidential support group in a local church, such as Celebrate Recovery or another recovery group, can also offer ongoing encouragement and accountability. If these patterns feel overwhelming, talking with a counselor or medical professional alongside prayer can be a wise support as well.

We are praying for you and will keep praying.

Father, we bring our brother before You and ask for Your mercy and strength. Bring healing to the places that hurt underneath this struggle, give him wisdom for each next choice, and surround him with safe, trustworthy help. Lead him day by day into freedom and deeper closeness with You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest confession has been heard and we receive it with both gravity and hope, thanking you for speaking plainly about a struggle that many bear in secret. There is mercy with God for those who come openly, and we count it a privilege to bring your burden before His throne.

We are reminded that charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and neither may be neglected. The Word tells us that without holiness no man shall see the Lord, and purity in the life of the body indicates a separation unto God. His good design is that sexual intimacy belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and every use of it outside that covenant, however strong the craving or long the habit, falls short of His holy will. Yet charity without purity is of no use, and so we do not come to you with harshness but with tender pity, desiring your full and lasting deliverance.

That deliverance, whether from the guilt of sin or from the power of sin, is as much the work of God as any other part of salvation. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He alone brings forth His people, and His deliverance is effectual. The prisoner ready to go down to the pit hears this word from heaven, I have found a ransom. God has not only invented the way of deliverance, He has provided it in the gift of His own Son, who has borne the penalty of all iniquity. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for He who forgives through Jesus Christ also sanctifies through Him, and can say experimentally, He has delivered us from the power of darkness.

So we pray for you now. We ask the Father to look upon you in compassion through Jesus Christ who is alive and is our familiar Friend, to cleanse your conscience by His blood and to break the power of this chain by His Spirit. We pray that He would fix your eyes upon Christ for all things, and give you faith to look steadily to Him for deliverance, for those eyes of faith have mighty power with God. We ask that He would keep you from occasions of temptation, plant you in faithful fellowship where you may walk in light and be helped by others, and teach your heart to love what is pure. Rest your soul upon Him who has found the ransom, and doubt not your deliverance, for it is already accomplished at the cross and is made sure to all who trust Him.

Do not spread your griefs to the pitiless sea, but carry them to the throne of grace, where God hears and moves His arm to save. Flee every provision for the flesh, feed daily upon the Word, turn away from what inflames passion, and cry mightily until mercy strikes the hour of your deliverance. If we had no troubles we would have less to declare, but the believer after affliction can say, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. May the Lord grant you such a song of deliverance, that you may live to declare what He has done and comfort others in like trouble with the comfort you have received.

We will continue to bear you before the Lord, asking that He who began a good work in you will perfect it, and bring you forth not only delivered but enriched by His grace.

Admitting this out loud takes guts, especially when the reasons run deep. There's a short spoken prayer called the Addiction Clearing Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, a few calm minutes prayed over loosening addiction's hold, if you'd like something quiet to listen to. I hope freedom comes for you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this struggle so honestly and for asking for prayer. We have prayed for you and we continue to pray that God will set you free and strengthen you.

We do not know all the reasons behind this battle, but God does, and He sees both the weight you carry and the desire you have to be free. The good news is that freedom is not something you have to earn on your own. Christ has already paid the price for you on the cross. Scripture says you were bought with a price, so do not be servants of men or servants of passions, and with freedom Christ set us free, so stand fast therefore. That freedom is real and it is offered to you through Jesus Christ alone.

The Scriptures teach that holiness means more than chastity alone, it means freedom from every kind of sin, and virtue is what bestows true freedom. True freedom does not always mean the temptation disappears instantly, it means that even while you are still in the struggle, God can make you more honorable and stronger than the sin that has enslaved you, and then lead you out of its power. He does more than simply remove danger, He teaches us to despise the sin itself and to love what is pure, so that we can live above it.

We pray that God will do that work in you. We pray that He will forgive you through Jesus, cleanse you, fill your mind and heart with courage when you make the sign of His love and remember the cross, quench the passions that press on you, and give you the power to walk in purity. We pray that He will help you to love holiness, to pursue virtue, and to stand fast in the freedom Christ has already won for you, not turning back to what once enslaved you.

God designed sex to belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and any use outside of that falls short of His good purpose for you. His call is not to condemn you but to restore you to what is whole and holy, and He is able to do it.

We encourage you to keep walking in the light. Bring this struggle to a trusted pastor or mature believer who can walk with you, stay rooted in Scripture and prayer, and put practical guards in place to avoid what triggers temptation. Freedom often grows as we walk it out daily with Christ and with His people.

We are grateful you reached out. You are not alone in this, and we will keep praying that the Lord who loves you will make your soul free, give you strength to stand, and lead you into lasting purity and peace.
