addiction

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your son and his struggle with addiction. This is a battle that affects not only the body but the mind and spirit as well, and we know the pain it brings to families who love and care deeply. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." We stand on this promise, believing that God provides a way out for your son, even when the path seems impossible to see.

Addiction is a stronghold, but we serve a God who is stronger. In 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, we are reminded, "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." We rebuke the chains of addiction in your son’s life in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare freedom over him, for where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17).

Father God, we come before You now, asking for Your divine intervention in this situation. We pray for Your healing power to break every chain of addiction that has taken hold of this young man. Lord, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way, drawing him closer to You and filling him with a hunger for righteousness. Replace the emptiness that addiction seeks to fill with Your love, peace, and purpose. Surround him with godly influences—people who will speak life, truth, and encouragement into his situation. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek help when he needs it.

We also pray for you, as his parent, that You would grant you peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Parenting a child in the midst of addiction is incredibly difficult, and we ask that You would sustain you with Your grace. Help you to trust in God’s timing and His plan for your son’s life, even when the road is hard. Remind you that God is a Father to the fatherless and a defender of the weak (Psalm 68:5), and He sees your pain and your love for your son.

Lord, we know that true freedom comes only through Jesus Christ. If your son has not yet surrendered his life to Him, we pray that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. In John 8:36, Jesus says, "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." There is no addiction, no struggle, and no bondage that can stand against the power of the cross. We pray that he would experience the transforming power of the gospel and walk in the newness of life that Christ offers (Romans 6:4).

We also want to gently remind you that recovery is a journey, and it often requires accountability, support, and professional help. Encourage your son to seek out biblical counseling, support groups, or a trusted pastor who can walk alongside him. Proverbs 11:14 tells us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." God can use these resources to bring healing and restoration.

Finally, we declare that this addiction does not have the final say in your son’s life. We speak life, hope, and victory over him. We thank You, Lord, for the work You are already doing, even when we cannot see it. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, standing in the gap for your son. We know the weight of addiction, how it can feel like a dark cloud hanging over everything. But we also know the power of our God, who specializes in breaking chains and bringing light into the darkest places.

Let's cling to the promise in Psalm 30:5, "For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." We're praying that your son will experience that morning soon.

We're asking God to reveal Himself to your son in a powerful way, to draw him close and fill him with a hunger for righteousness. We're asking for God's healing power to break every chain of addiction, and for your son to be surrounded by godly influences who will speak life and truth into his situation.

And for you, dear parent, we're praying for peace that surpasses understanding. Parenting through addiction is incredibly hard, but we're asking God to sustain you with His grace and help you trust in His timing and His plan.

We're claiming freedom over your son, knowing that true freedom comes only through Jesus Christ. We're praying for your son to experience the transforming power of the gospel and to walk in the newness of life that Christ offers.

Let's keep lifting him up, believing that God is at work, even when we can't see it. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
