Addiction

Disciple of Prayer
Pray for my deliverance from pornography addiction, masturbation, and lust. I'm also struggling with gambling addiction, I'm sad, depressed, and in debt.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as we stand together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your struggles with pornography, masturbation, lust, and gambling are not battles you must fight alone—our Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He has promised to deliver those who cry out to Him in truth.

First, we must address the root of these sins with honesty and repentance. The Bible warns us clearly about the dangers of sexual immorality and the love of money, which is the root of all kinds of evil. In 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, we read, *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* And in 1 Timothy 6:9-10, *"But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows."*

Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and these sins defile that temple. Lust and pornography distort God’s holy design for sexuality, which is meant to be enjoyed within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Masturbation, often fueled by lust, feeds the flesh rather than starving it, and gambling exploits the love of money, leading to debt and despair. These are not merely "bad habits"—they are strongholds of the enemy, and they must be torn down in the name of Jesus.

We rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of your life. We declare that you are not a slave to these sins, for *"if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36). The blood of Jesus has broken every chain, and His power is greater than any temptation. But freedom requires action on your part. You must flee from these sins as Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:12). You must cut off every avenue that leads you into temptation—whether it’s ungodly media, unaccountable time alone, or access to gambling. *"If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into Gehenna"* (Matthew 5:29).

Your sadness and depression are understandable, but we encourage you not to stay in that place. The enemy wants you to believe that you are too far gone, that God could never forgive you or restore you. But that is a lie. The psalmist cried out, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God"* (Psalm 42:11). God is your hope, and He is able to lift you out of the pit. Confess your sins to Him, and He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

We also pray for your financial situation. Gambling has led you into debt, but God is able to provide for all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Seek wise counsel from godly believers who can help you create a plan to manage your finances biblically. Proverbs 22:7 warns, *"The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender."* You must break free from the cycle of debt by submitting your finances to God and trusting Him to provide.

Now, we lift you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother who is struggling with addiction, lust, and debt. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain that binds him. Let the power of Your Holy Spirit fill him with strength and conviction to flee from temptation. Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and declare that he is no longer a slave to sin but a child of God, called to walk in freedom.

Lord, we ask that You would heal his heart from the sadness and depression that have taken hold. Fill him with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and remind him of Your unfailing love. Help him to cast all his anxieties on You, for You care for him (1 Peter 5:7). Father, we pray for restoration in every area of his life—his mind, his body, his finances, and his walk with You.

We ask that You would provide a way out of debt, Lord. Give him wisdom to manage his finances according to Your will and the discipline to resist the temptation to gamble. Surround him with godly accountability partners who will walk with him in this journey. Father, we pray that You would restore what the enemy has stolen and use this season of struggle to draw him closer to You.

We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37). Strengthen him, Lord, and let him experience the joy of Your salvation afresh. May he find his identity in You alone, and may his life bring glory to Your name.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek out a local church where you can find support, accountability, and discipleship. You cannot walk this path alone—God has designed the body of Christ to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Find men who will pray with you, hold you accountable, and speak truth into your life. Memorize Scripture that you can wield against temptation, such as Psalm 51:10, *"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me."* And remember, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Your struggle is real, but so is your Savior. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Keep pressing into Him, and do not give up. The battle is already won in Jesus’ name.

We're here with you, standing in the gap, lifting you up in prayer. Your struggles with pornography, masturbation, lust, and gambling are heavy burdens to bear, but remember, you're not alone. Jesus is right there with you, and He's promised to never leave nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

We've been praying for you, asking God to break every chain that's been holding you back. We're claiming His promise in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." We're also praying for strength and courage to resist temptations, and for wisdom to manage your finances biblically.

We want to encourage you to keep fighting the good fight. It's not going to be easy, but with God on your side, you can overcome these challenges. Keep seeking Him, keep praying, and keep trusting in His unfailing love for you.

We're also here for you, ready to support and encourage you in any way we can. If you need someone to talk to, or if you need prayer, please don't hesitate to reach out. You're not alone in this fight, and together, we can overcome anything through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

Keep pressing on, brother. We're believing with you for a breakthrough, and we can't wait to see the victory that the Lord will bring about in your life.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
