Please pray for my brother who has just told us he has a drug addiction, he's been using for 10+ years and injecting these past few months, he went to take his life but was spotted, he is angry toward our faith due to a religious spirit from childhood, he has mental health problems on top of addiction, his wife doesn't understand and thinks addiction isn't real, you just deal with it, the emotional pain he is in is breaking our hearts, only God can help him, please pray for healing, recovery but most of all he meets with Christ, thank you.
I pray in Jesus Name Amen

We lift your brother up before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, knowing that nothing is impossible with God. His struggle with drug addiction, the deep emotional pain, and the spiritual battle he faces are not beyond the reach of our Savior, who came to set the captives free. The enemy has sought to destroy him through substance abuse, mental torment, and a hardened heart toward the faith, but we declare that Jesus is mightier. He is the Great Physician, the Redeemer of broken lives, and the One who can break every chain of bondage.

Your brother’s anger toward faith due to a religious spirit from childhood is a real and painful barrier, but we know that religion without relationship leads only to bitterness. What he needs is not rules or empty tradition, but an encounter with the living Christ, who loves him unconditionally. The Bible tells us in **John 8:36 (WEB)**, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* True freedom is found only in surrendering to Jesus, not in the temporary escape of drugs or the lies of the enemy. We also remember **1 Peter 5:8 (WEB)**, which warns us to *"be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."* Your brother has been in the lion’s jaws for far too long, but Jesus is his Deliverer.

His wife’s lack of understanding about addiction compounds the pain, but we pray that God would open her eyes to the spiritual and physical battle at hand. Addiction is not merely a matter of willpower—it is a bondage that requires divine intervention, medical help, professional counseling, and the support of a loving community. **Ephesians 6:12 (WEB)** reminds us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* This is a battle that must be fought on our knees, with the armor of God, and with the truth of Scripture as our weapon.

We also recognize the mental health struggles he faces, and we pray for God’s healing touch upon his mind. **2 Timothy 1:7 (WEB)** declares, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* The same God who calmed the stormy sea can bring peace to his troubled mind. We ask the Lord to surround him with people who will walk alongside him in this journey—believers who can speak life, truth, and hope into his situation.

Most importantly, we cry out for his salvation. If he has never truly surrendered his life to Jesus Christ, then that is the greatest need of all. **Acts 4:12 (WEB)** leaves no room for doubt: *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* Without Christ, any recovery will be temporary, but with Christ, he can be made completely new. We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict his heart, break down the walls of resistance, and draw him into a saving relationship with Jesus. May he come to know the love of the Father, who sent His Son to die for him while he was still a sinner.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, lifting up this precious brother who is trapped in the grip of addiction, mental anguish, and spiritual darkness. Lord, You see the depth of his pain—the years of bondage, the despair that drove him to the edge of life, and the anger that has hardened his heart toward You. But we declare that You are the God of breakthroughs, the One who specializes in the impossible. You turned Saul the persecutor into Paul the apostle, and You can transform this man’s life for Your glory.

We bind the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus and command every demonic stronghold to be broken. Lord, deliver him from the power of drugs and the lies that have kept him enslaved. Restore his mind, heal his emotions, and renew his strength. Surround him with godly counselors, medical professionals, and believers who will walk with him in this journey. Soften his wife’s heart to understand the gravity of this battle and to respond with compassion rather than judgment.

Most of all, Father, we pray for his salvation. If he has never truly known You, we ask that You reveal Yourself to him in a way he cannot deny. Strip away the religious spirits that have distorted his view of You and let him encounter the real Jesus—the One who loves him, who died for him, and who longs to set him free. Draw him to Yourself, Lord, and let this season of brokenness be the very thing that leads him to the foot of the cross.

We stand in the gap for him, believing that You are at work even now. Give his family wisdom to know how to love him well, to set godly boundaries, and to trust You with his life. Strengthen them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Let this be a testimony of Your redeeming power—not just for him, but for his wife, his family, and all who know him.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Amen.

To you who have shared this request, we encourage you to keep standing in faith. Do not grow weary in prayer, for **Galatians 6:9 (WEB)** reminds us, *"Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."* Surround your brother with the truth of God’s Word, speak life over him, and trust that the Lord is working even when you cannot see it. If he is open to it, share the gospel with him gently but boldly. Remind him that Jesus is the only way to true freedom. If he is resistant, continue to love him while setting healthy boundaries to protect your own heart.

We also urge you to seek support for yourself and your family during this time. Addiction affects everyone around it, and you will need the strength and encouragement of a faith community to walk through this. Lean on the Lord, who is your ever-present help in trouble. He is with you, and He is with your brother. Do not lose hope.
I pray in Jesus Name Amen
