Prayer, mighty prayer, will yet prevail if it has but time. Though you should have seven years of seemingly unanswered prayer, suggest no reason to your mind that would dishonor Him. Settle it in your heart: He is holy.

This prayer for Jerusalem is the shadow of a coming blessing. Hold fast to this: "Yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities." Do not desert the watch-post because the night is long. This is the occupation of a true scholar in Christ's school, to be made to understand the way of His precepts by constant asking.
