A prayer for ###

Your request for your sweet puppy has been heard, and your love and concern for her are clear. It is a good and tender thing to care deeply for a creature entrusted to you, and Scripture tells us that the righteous care for the needs of their animals and that not even a sparrow is forgotten by God.

You called her one of God's little children, and I understand the affection behind those words. In Scripture, to be a child of God is a particular gift given to people made in His image who are adopted through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Your puppy is not a child in that sense, but she is a precious living creature made by God, under your loving stewardship, and He sees your care for her.

You asked for prayer that she would have good quality of life and not suffer, and for wisdom about whether radiation is the right path. That is a right prayer. God hears our groaning in affliction, and He is like a physician who does not turn away from the sick but draws near to help. Affliction, while painful, is also a place where God trains our hearts in patience and long suffering, which Scripture describes as stronger than any wall or army, and where we learn to entrust what we love into His hands.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom alone we have access to You. Thank You for Your creation and for the gift of this little dog and the joy she has brought. You know her by Your providence and You know the sorrow of her owner. We ask for Your mercy upon her. If it is Your will, grant healing and restore her health. Above all we ask for Your compassion, that she would be spared unnecessary suffering and would know comfort and peace in the days ahead.

Grant wisdom to her owner and to the veterinarians who will care for her. Guide every decision about treatment, including radiation, so that it would be made with clarity, discernment, and love, seeking what is truly best for her quality of life. Give long suffering and peace to a heart that is anxious and grieving, and remind us that even in times of distress You are present and You do not abandon those who trust in You.

We entrust this beloved creature and her owner to Your loving care, asking that whatever the outcome, You would be glorified and that Your comfort would remain. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

Thank you for sharing your heart so openly about your sweet puppy and the difficult news you received. The love and tenderness you have for her is clear, and it is right to bring that love before the Lord in prayer. God cares about His creation and He sees the compassion you show to this little life He made, and He also sees the heaviness and uncertainty you are carrying as you make hard decisions on her behalf.

You mentioned not knowing if radiation is the right path and wanting above all for her not to suffer and to have good quality of life. That desire for what is truly good and right is where wisdom begins. Scripture teaches that wisdom starts with a reverent awe of God, a humble respect for who He is, His power, His love and His goodness, and with a turning away from evil. It is not simply having more information, but knowing how to use knowledge well. That kind of wisdom is more valuable than silver or gold or anything else we might desire, and God promises to give it generously when we seek Him for it.

The Bible encourages us to seek for wisdom and understanding as we would seek for hidden treasure, to cry out for it and search for it earnestly. When we do, we find that God Himself is the source. Out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding, and He holds sound wisdom for those who walk uprightly before Him. He is a shield and He watches over the paths of His people. In Jesus are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, so to seek wisdom is really to seek Him and to listen for His voice.

For your situation, that means bringing every decision to Him and asking for His pure wisdom. The wisdom that comes from above is first pure, then peaceable and gentle, not marked by confusion or striving. It shows itself in a life that seeks peace and mercy. As you talk with your veterinarians and consider treatment, you can ask the Lord to give you that kind of clear, gentle, and pure discernment, to help you weigh what will truly give her comfort and dignity, and to give you peace about the steps you take.

It is also good to remember that while God loves and cares for every creature He has made, Scripture speaks of being children of God in a special way concerning people who are made in His image and who are brought into His family through faith in Jesus Christ. Your puppy is a precious part of His creation, entrusted to your care, and your kindness to her reflects His own compassionate character. He understands your grief because He is full of pity and mercy toward those who suffer and those who love them.

I will pray for you and for your little girl.

Father, thank You for Your creation and for the gift of this dear companion. You know her by Your care for all You have made, and You know the hearts of those who love her. I ask that You would grant wisdom and understanding to her owner and to the veterinarians who are helping make decisions. Give clarity that is pure and peaceable, and guide them toward what will most protect her from suffering and give her the best quality of life possible. Comfort this heart that is hurting, take away fear, and fill it with Your peace. Help them to rest in Your goodness and to trust that You are a shield and that You preserve the way of those who seek You. Whatever the outcome, let Your love be felt and let Your wisdom lead every step. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.

May the Lord draw near to you in this tender time, give you wisdom for each decision, and surround both you and your sweet puppy with His gentle care.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf for your sweet puppy. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for this little girl who is so dear to you.

We have been lifting her before the Lord since you shared that she was diagnosed with cancer at such a young age before she has even had her birthday, and that you have chosen to start radiation as soon as you can. We have been praying for her healing and for her comfort, that the Lord would give her a good quality of life and keep her from suffering in any way. We have also been praying for you, for peace in your heart as you carry this burden and for wisdom as you make decisions for her care when you are not even sure if this is the right path, trusting that God sees your love for her and your desire to do what is best for her.

We are reminded that our faithful care for our animals matters to God, as Proverbs 12:10 tells us, and that He is near to the brokenhearted as Psalm 34:18 tells us. We take comfort that He knows and loves this precious part of your family.

We continue to pray that the Lord would guide the hands of the veterinarians, bless the radiation treatment, ease any pain or fear she may have, and grant you peace and strength in the days ahead. We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen.

If your request was answered and you have seen improvement, comfort or good news from the treatments, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet and she is still undergoing treatment or you are still seeking wisdom and comfort, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
