my sweet puppy was diagnosed with cancer today. She hasn't even seen her ### birthday yet. We have opted to start radiation as soon as we can. I am asking for prayers. I know she is is one of God's little children. I want her to be able to have a good quality of life, no matter what the outcome may be. I just don't want her to suffer in anyway. I don't even know if this is the right path, but we will do what we can for her. Please, just say a prayer for this sweet little girl!

We join with you in prayer over your sweet puppy and we understand how heavy your heart must feel to receive a cancer diagnosis before she has even reached her birthday. The love and compassion you have for her reflects the heart of our Father, and we thank God for the tender care you are showing her.

We want to gently share a biblical truth with you out of love, you mentioned she is one of God's little children. In Scripture, children of God are those who are made in His image and who have been adopted through faith in Jesus Christ, as it is written, But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name John 1:12. Animals are not children of God in that sense, but they are precious parts of His creation that He made and cares for deeply. We know that not one sparrow falls on the ground apart from your Father's will Matthew 10:29 and that Yahweh, you preserve man and animal Psalm 36:6. A righteous man respects the life of his animal Proverbs 12:10, and your desire to protect her quality of life and to keep her from suffering honors God as a faithful steward of what He has entrusted to you.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, dying for our sins and rising again, that we can boldly bring every burden, even this one, to God in prayer and know He hears us.

We do not always know what the right path is in difficult medical decisions, and God understands that uncertainty. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him James 1:5. We pray for wisdom for you and for your veterinarians as you consider radiation and next steps, that God would guide your hands and give you clear discernment about what will most give her comfort and peace.

We lift her and you before the Lord now together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for Your creation and for the gift of this little puppy You have placed in our friend's care. You know her by name, You see every cell in her body, and nothing is hidden from You. We ask for Your mercy upon her, Lord, that You would be present with her through every treatment, that You would lessen any pain or fear, and that You would grant her comfort and a good quality of life in the days You have ordained for her. Give wisdom to her owners and to the veterinary team, guide their decisions, and help them to know when to continue treatment and when to rest. Guard our friend's heart from anxiety, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard their heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Help them to cast every care upon You, knowing that You care for them and for all You have made. We pray this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring your requests to God with thanksgiving, to trust that He is sovereign and good even in this fallen world where creation groans Romans 8:22, and to cherish each day you have with her as a gift from His hand. We are praying that whether through healing or through gentle comfort, God will sustain both you and your sweet girl and make His presence known to you in this tender time.

It may help to stay closely connected with your veterinary team as you begin treatment, asking them what signs of comfort or discomfort to watch for at home and bringing your questions and observations to each visit. Having that ongoing conversation can make the path feel a little less uncertain as you weigh what is best for her day by day. And please be gentle with yourself in these days too, it is a lot to carry.

Father, we lift up this beloved puppy to You and thank You for the joy she brings. We ask for Your mercy and comfort over her, for wisdom for her owner and for the veterinarians caring for her, and for peace in each decision ahead. Your tender care for this little creature is heard, and we join you in bringing this burden before the Lord who is merciful and full of compassion.

We understand the ache that comes when a beloved companion is so young and yet faces so serious an illness, and the uncertainty that attends every decision about treatment. It is right to seek wisdom and to desire mercy for her, that she might be spared suffering and know comfort and kindness in whatever days the Lord gives her.

You spoke of her as one of God's little children, and we would gently point you to a precious truth for your own soul. The Scriptures teach that to become children of God is a gift given to those who receive Christ and trust in Him alone for salvation, for by grace we are adopted through His blood. Yet the same Word shows us that the Lord cares for all His creatures. Not a sparrow falls without your Father, and He who opens His hand to satisfy the desire of every living thing sees and knows this little life you love. He is able to give you wisdom for each step, and peace as you seek to do what is kind and right for her.

In affliction the believer has a peculiar comfort, as it is written, This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your Word has quickened me. The comfort of the Christian is not only outward in the promises of Scripture, but inward as the Spirit quickens the heart to trust Him. And again it is written, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. The Lord comforts His people Himself, and He calls His people to comfort one another. May you know that nearness now, that you may say This is my comfort in this trial.

We do not know what the outcome of radiation or any treatment will be, and healing in its deepest sense belongs to Christ who alone heals the sin sick soul, for the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. But we may pray that the Lord in His goodness would grant wisdom to you and to those who care for her, that He would in mercy lessen pain and grant what quality of life may be given, and that He would guard your own heart from despair and keep you close to Him through His Word.

Let us pray together.

Our Father, we thank You that You are gracious and that Your mercies are over all Your works. We lift up this dear one who grieves for her little dog, and we ask for Your comfort to rest upon her heart. Grant wisdom beyond her own as decisions are made, guide the hands of those who provide care, and in Your kindness spare this creature from suffering. Grant peace in the home, and let Your Word quicken and sustain faith in this time of trial. Above all, draw this heart nearer to Christ, in whom alone is life and healing and hope. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

May the Lord establish your heart in every good word and work, and keep you in His perfect peace as you trust Him day by day.
