Beloved of All
I would like prayers for my family. My brother has severe mental illness and won’t improve his behaviour. My mom is suffering a lot and she said she’s helpless. He controls her life and won’t leave her alone. Controls the moneys she spends ( it’s hers not his) she needs cataract surgery is the second time she booked he always cancels. Please Jesus Christ help her to set free from him and let her have the surgery been booked Monday. She is very sad. We tried everything called the police the medical professionals many prayer groups and missionaries. My cousins even went to her house got her luggage and helped to pack the end she refused to leave my brother. Now they are going to drs again she wants him not go get in consultation as she needs he blood pressure medication he won’t allow her to have. Jesus Christ please help her to get her medication. She’s planning to live with me and I would love her to have a nice life have her medication and surgery and go theatre she loves and the movies have nice life she deserves!

We join with you in lifting up your precious mother and your whole family before the throne of grace in Jesus' name, for we know how heavy this burden has become and how helpless you all feel after trying so many avenues for help. We hear your heart for your mother to be free, to receive the care she needs, and to enjoy the peaceful life she deserves, and we stand with you in asking our Lord Jesus Christ to intervene powerfully.

We are deeply grieved to hear of the control and suffering your mother is enduring. What you describe, controlling her money, cancelling her needed cataract surgery, and preventing her from receiving her blood pressure medication, is not loving or honoring, and it places her health and dignity in danger. Scripture teaches us to honor our father and mother, Exodus 20:12, and to bear one another's burdens, Galatians 6:2. Love does not control or oppress, but seeks the good of the other. While we have great compassion for your brother in his severe mental illness and we pray earnestly for his healing and deliverance, his illness does not justify harming your mother or denying her necessary care. The Lord sees the affliction of the oppressed and is near to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18, and He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1. We also remember the word in Proverbs 11:14 that in the multitude of counselors there is victory, which reminds us that God often works through wise counsel, medical professionals, and proper authorities to bring protection and order, Romans 13:1-4.

We thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that we are saved, John 14:6 and Acts 4:12, and we rejoice that you have brought this need directly to Him.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bring this dear mother before You, and we bring her son and this whole family. Lord, You see her sadness, her helplessness, her physical needs for cataract surgery and for blood pressure medication, and her longing for peace. We ask that You surround her with Your protection and Your peace that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:6-7. We pray that You would make a way for her surgery that is booked for Monday to go forward without hindrance or cancellation, and that You would ensure she receives her medication without delay. Touch her eyes and her heart, Lord, and let her feel Your nearness and Your love, Isaiah 41:10.

We also lift up her son to You. Lord, You know the depth of his mental illness and the torment it brings to him and to those around him. We ask for Your healing touch upon his mind and spirit, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. Bring calm to his mind, bring conviction where control has taken hold, and bring the right doctors, counselors, and support to help him toward stability and wholeness. Break any chain of control and set both mother and son free in the way only You can.

Father, grant wisdom from above to this family as they seek to help, James 1:5. Give them clarity, unity, courage, and loving firmness to set healthy boundaries while continuing to honor their mother. Lead them to the right people who can advocate for her medical care, including her doctors, patient advocates, and if needed, protective services for vulnerable adults, so that her needs are not denied. We pray that if it is Your will for her to live with her child who loves her and wants to give her a nice life, that You would open that door gently and prepare her heart to accept that help without guilt or fear, and that You would restore to her joy, including simple gifts like theatre and movies that bring her delight. We ask that You restore what has been stolen and give her beauty for ashes.

We encourage you to continue to walk closely with the Lord and to keep seeking wise, godly counsel and practical support. Continue to involve her medical team directly, speak privately with her doctors and nurses about the cancellations and the withheld medication so they can document and advocate for her as a vulnerable patient. If her safety or health is at risk, do not hesitate to continue to seek help from proper authorities and from trusted pastoral counsel, for God has placed those authorities for protection. Keep lovingly offering your mother a safe home with you, praying that the Lord will soften her heart to receive that refuge when she is ready, and continue to show her patient love without condemnation for her difficult choice to stay. Keep entrusting your brother to the Lord while maintaining necessary boundaries for your mother's safety and finances, and do not grow weary in doing good, Galatians 6:9.

We will continue to hold your mother, your brother, and you in prayer, trusting that our God who sees all and is able to do far more than we ask or think will bring His mercy, healing, and freedom in His perfect timing. May the Lord comfort and strengthen you all and let His will be done in this family for His glory. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

If you or your mom are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. Trained people are ready to help right now and you do not have to face this alone.

We are so grateful you shared this with us. We hear how heavy this has been, watching your mom feel helpless and controlled, worrying about her cataract surgery on Monday and her blood pressure medication, and feeling like every effort with police, doctors, prayer groups and family has not yet brought change. It makes sense you feel worn down and sad for her.

You named your mom's health and safety as most urgent, and we join you in praying for that. Alongside prayer, please keep her medical team involved for both the surgery and the blood pressure medication, and if possible have a trusted person go with her to the appointment on Monday to help her be heard and get home safely. It can also help to keep a simple plan with a safe contact, copies of important papers, and a way to reach help quickly if control or pressure escalates.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this mom and her family to You. We ask for Your protection over her, for wisdom for those caring for her, for access to the medication and surgery she needs, and for a path to a safer, more peaceful daily life. Give her daughter strength and clarity as she loves her well. Amen.

Your sorrowful cry concerning your mother and your brother has been laid before the Lord, and we join you in carrying this heavy burden to the throne of grace. To see a beloved mother oppressed in her own house, controlled in the spending of her own money, hindered from needful surgery and even from the medicine for her blood pressure, and to feel helpless after all that has been tried with police, physicians, prayer groups and family, is a grief that well may break the heart. The Lord knows this affliction, for He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds.

We would remind you that deliverance from a cruel captivity must be worked by the hand and outstretched arm of Jehovah alone. As Israel could not bring themselves forth from Egypt, so we cannot by our own strength effect this deliverance, yet the promise stands, He brought them forth. It is of free grace only. When we have done all we can, and feel we can do nothing, then the Lord shows that salvation is not of us but of Him who has found a ransom. That ransom is His own Son, who bore the penalty for sinners, and in whom there is healing as well as pardon. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. The Sun of Righteousness rises with healing beneath His wings upon those who sit in the midnight of despair.

We pray therefore that the Lord in His mercy would do what man cannot do. May He in His tender indulgence toward the least and feeblest of His family, show His power on behalf of your mother. We ask the Lord to make a way for her to receive her blood pressure medicine without hindrance, and to keep open the door for the cataract surgery appointed for Monday, that no hand may cancel what is needful for her sight and health. We ask Him to break the power that holds her in fear and control, to give her strength to be set free, and if it be His will, to grant her the quiet life you desire for her with you, where she may have her medicine and her healing, and enjoy with thankfulness the simple mercies she loves, even the theatre and such innocent joys, in peace within her borders.

We pray also for your brother, who is held fast by severe mental illness and will not amend his behaviour. Only the Lord can deliver from the power of darkness as well as from the guilt of sin. We entreat Him to have compassion upon this afflicted man, to bring healing to his mind, to restrain his controlling spirit, and to lead him to that Physician whose healing balm alone can change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.

Take comfort that God has heard. Continue to seek lawful help and medical care for your mother as you have done, honouring her and protecting her as the Lord enables you, and cast your care wholly upon Christ, who is able to heal and willing to save. May the Lord give you and your mother songs of deliverance, that you may magnify Him who has delivered His people from worse enemies by a greater salvation.

O Lord our God, look upon this mother in her sadness and helplessness, and upon this family in its distress. Thou hast found a ransom, have mercy and deliver. Bring forth this daughter of Thine with healing, keep her in Thy peace, and let Thy will be done for her good and Thy glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
