How important is forgiveness to your salvation?

Forgive or the Father will not forgive.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
- Matthew 6:14-15 -

And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
- Mark 11:25 -

Break one law you break them all.
(This would also includes unforgiveness)

9. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.
10. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
- James 2:9-10 -

Forgiveness permits love to continue
Whoever forgives an offense seeks love, but whoever keeps bringing up the issue separates the closest of friends.(God's Word Translation)
-Proverbs 17:8-10 -

Is there someone you haven't forgiven? You can't move forward with God until you do.

How many times should I forgive a person?
21. Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?”
22. Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.

One peripheral thing I like about this 70 x 7 verse is that Jesus will never ask us to do something he is not willing to do himself. If we are to forgive others each time they admit it, and I actually believe this is possible and we can walk in this, I find hope that God will forgive and overcome besetting sin / characteristic flesh. May God find a holy and pure people who know his word by heart in at least one language, in Jesus' Name.

To forgive others is the best form of loving others just as Jesus loved us. It takes a strong person full of the presence of Jesus to forgive other peoples' faults and mistakes. Live a life like Jesus. Loving and forgiving those who came to Him. Even those who rejected Him and did not believe that He was the Son of the living God. Father, Jesus said. Forgive them for they do not know what they do. Are you forgiving all your enemies? I hope so.

From the bottom of my heart, I have forgiven more than seventy times to those who hurt me, hinder me, mocked me because I shared Jesus. If the Lord says to love one another as I have loved you, then we should do exactly that. Take some some lost souls to church. Make sure they get saved and be on their way to heaven. Jesus will see and appreciate your good deeds done in His name. Hallelujah for the Lord the almighty reigning. He is coming soon to take us all home to heaven.
