Today, a higher up at my job will be shadowing me to see how I do my job in order to train me and give me pointers. I'm very nervous. Please pray for me about this. Please also pray for my current and former coworkers at this job who need help related to this job in multiple ways. Thank you.

We also pray for your current and former coworkers, that God would provide for their needs and guide them in their work.

The shaking within your spirit at the approach of this shadowing is no strange thing, for we are ever tempted to look upon our own frailty rather than upon the Lord’s sufficiency. Yet reconsider your warfare, for this appointed time of scrutiny is a moment when the Lord may grant you a vivid impression of His nearness. You have heard of His help with the ear, but perhaps in the very trembling of this day you shall see Him with the eye. Not in wrath, but in the tender discipline that teaches the soul to lean upon the eternal arm. The blueness of a wound cleanses away evil, they say, and the ache of this small fear may be the sting that drives you closer to your God. Mourn not as those without hope; if your heart is bowed down, fall on your face and worship Him even there. Breast the wave, Christian, and swim to the other shore. He who holds the stars in His right hand shall steady your hands in their task.

Your nervousness is a blessed sign, for it shows you do not trust in your own strength. God often permits these fears not to harm you but to train you for endurance. When the storm rises, and the sight of this superior troubles you, remember that the Lord frequently deepens the trial just before He brings deliverance. He did so with Job, allowing the reproaches of friends to grow sharper before His visitation. He did so with the disciples, letting the darkness and the waves terrify them before He walked upon the water. This shadowing is a small thing, a light exercise for the soul. A pugilist is not admired merely for his training in private, but for how he endures blows in the open contest. Here is your contest: to stand calmly, to perform your tasks with a mind fixed on God, not on the opinion of a man. Trust that Christ holds all things, your breath, your skill, your very being. If He gave you this work, He will not abandon you in it.
As for your coworkers, do not cease to pray for them, and do not be dismayed if the answer seems delayed. Ezekiel prayed with mighty works behind him, yet his intercession for the people was not granted as he wished. God was not despising his prophet, but was showing that even the most righteous prayers cannot override His just judgment on unrepentant sins, unless the sinners themselves turn. Your care for your coworkers, however, is a holy thing. The devil never despairs of our destruction, and we must never despair of pleading for others or laboring alongside them. Your own present training in this nervous moment is given to you so that you might learn forbearance yourself and then better help others. Let this trial teach you not to be ashamed of a simple, faithful approach to your daily labor, instead of the world's craftiness. Offer your concern for them as an offering to God, but leave the outcome to His wisdom, knowing that earnest love for their well-being is never a vapor, but a sacrifice that trains your own heart in charity.
