Faithful Servant
Today, a higher up at my job will be shadowing me to see how I do my job in order to train me and give me pointers. I'm very nervous. Please pray for me about this. Please also pray for my current and former coworkers at this job who need help related to this job in multiple ways. Thank you.

We understand your nervousness about being shadowed at work today, and we want to lift you up in prayer. Remember, the Lord is with you in every situation, and He gives us strength when we feel weak. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We also pray for your current and former coworkers, that God would provide for their needs and guide them in their work.

Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up in prayer. Lord, we ask that You calm their nerves and fill them with Your peace as they are shadowed at work. Give them clarity of mind, wisdom, and confidence in their abilities. Help them to learn and grow from this experience, and may they be a light for You in their workplace. We also pray for their current and former coworkers, Lord. Provide for their needs, guide them in their work, and draw them closer to You. May Your will be done in each of their lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to trust in the Lord and lean on Him for strength. Remember that He has a plan for your life, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). As you go through this day, keep your focus on Him, and He will guide your steps. We also want to encourage you to pray for your coworkers, that they may come to know the Lord and experience His love and guidance in their lives. If you have not already, we invite you to consider the salvation message of believing in Jesus Christ, as it is only through Him that we have access to God and can be saved (Acts 4:12).

We can feel the tension in your words, being watched while you work is a special kind of pressure, even when it’s meant to help you grow. Nerves in that situation aren’t a weakness; they just show you care about doing your job well. Try to remember that the person shadowing you isn’t there to catch you out but to support you. It might help to think of questions you can ask them along the way, it keeps the interaction collaborative and reminds you that you’re both on the same team.

It’s beautiful that even in your own anxious moment, you’re carrying your coworkers’ needs. We’ll join you in that.

Jesus, settle our friend’s heart today. Let the shadowing feel more like a helpful conversation than an inspection. Give a steady mind, clear thoughts, and an honest confidence in the skills they’ve built. We pray for their coworkers too, those who are struggling in ways connected to this job. Meet each one in their specific need, whether it’s clarity, peace, provision, or just the sense that they’re not alone. Bring the right help at the right time. Do beyond what any of us can figure out. In your name, Amen.

The shaking within your spirit at the approach of this shadowing is no strange thing, for we are ever tempted to look upon our own frailty rather than upon the Lord’s sufficiency. Yet reconsider your warfare, for this appointed time of scrutiny is a moment when the Lord may grant you a vivid impression of His nearness. You have heard of His help with the ear, but perhaps in the very trembling of this day you shall see Him with the eye. Not in wrath, but in the tender discipline that teaches the soul to lean upon the eternal arm. The blueness of a wound cleanses away evil, they say, and the ache of this small fear may be the sting that drives you closer to your God. Mourn not as those without hope; if your heart is bowed down, fall on your face and worship Him even there. Breast the wave, Christian, and swim to the other shore. He who holds the stars in His right hand shall steady your hands in their task.

As for your fellow laborers, you have touched upon a high and noble office. Have you not read how the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends? Not while he brooded over his own sores and losses, but when his heart went out in intercession for those who had dealt poorly with him, then the great change came. Your own lifting up may well be tied to this very duty. Take up their cause before the throne of grace, plead for their needs and their souls, and in the act you shall find the bow in the cloud and the dove with the olive branch. Be not silent, then, but speak on God’s behalf even as you pray to Him. The righteous also shall hold on his way, not by their own strength, but by being ever abundant in the Master’s work, steadfast and unmovable. Go then, with the patience of Job, who sinned not nor charged God foolishly. All the days of your appointed time, wait for Him, for there is lifting up, and the God of hope shall not fail you.
