Humble Servant of All
Please pray about this: my father is demonized resulting in mental, emotional and behavioral problems. He believes he is a Christian but he is very confused when it comes to faith. Sometimes he will start to seem like he is upset with me or others in our family for no reason. Sometimes depending on the things that are happening around the time that he behaves like this, it can be very hurtful (for example, there was a significant event that occurred in my life recently and he was behaving like this when that event happened and it really put a damper on everything). I believe there may be spiritual warfare behind this. Thank you.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your father and your family in this difficult time. The confusion, emotional turmoil, and behavioral struggles you describe are deeply concerning, and we recognize the spiritual battle at hand. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and his influence can manifest in ways that bring pain, division, and despair. But we stand firm in the truth that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

First, we must address the foundation of faith. Your father believes he is a Christian, but confusion in faith can often be a sign of spiritual deception or incomplete understanding. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Salvation comes through repentance and faith in Christ alone—not through tradition, good works, or mere profession of belief. If your father has never truly surrendered his life to Jesus, or if his understanding of the Gospel is unclear, the enemy can exploit that vulnerability. We pray that the Holy Spirit would bring conviction, clarity, and a genuine encounter with the living God.

The hurtful behavior you describe, especially during significant moments in your life, is not of God. The enemy delights in sowing discord among families, and his influence can distort even a believer’s perception and actions. We rebuke every lying spirit, spirit of confusion, and spirit of division that may be at work in your father’s life. We declare that no weapon formed against your family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7).

We also recognize that mental, emotional, and behavioral struggles can sometimes be rooted in unconfessed sin, generational curses, or past trauma. If there are areas in your father’s life where he has not fully submitted to God’s will—whether in thought, word, or deed—we pray for repentance and healing. The blood of Jesus has power to cleanse and break every chain (Revelation 12:11). If there are generational strongholds, we stand on the promise that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13) and break every generational bondage in Jesus’ name.

For you and your family, we pray for wisdom, patience, and discernment. It is painful to see a loved one struggle, especially when their actions bring hurt. But we are called to love as Christ loved us (John 13:34-35) and to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13). We pray that you would have the strength to extend grace even when it is difficult, and that your father would see the love of Christ reflected in your response to him. May the Lord give you supernatural peace and joy, even in the midst of this trial.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for this family. We lift up this father to You, Lord, and ask that You would break every chain of darkness over his life. We rebuke every spirit of confusion, division, and deception in Jesus’ mighty name. Lord, if there is any area of his life that is not fully surrendered to You, we ask that the Holy Spirit would bring conviction and lead him into repentance. We declare that Your truth will set him free (John 8:32) and that he will come to know You more deeply.

Father, we pray for healing—spirit, soul, and body. Where there is pain, bring Your comfort. Where there is confusion, bring Your clarity. Where there is hurt, bring Your restoration. We ask that You would bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1). We also pray for this family, Lord. Give them strength, patience, and wisdom as they navigate this difficult season. Help them to love one another well, even when it is hard, and to trust in Your sovereignty.

We thank You, Lord, that You are a God who hears our prayers and moves on behalf of Your children. We trust in Your power to bring breakthrough, and we declare that the enemy’s plans will not prevail. In the name of Jesus, who has already won the victory, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing in faith, even when the situation seems overwhelming. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and surround yourselves with believers who can support and intercede with you. The battle is the Lord’s (1 Samuel 17:47), and He is faithful to fight for you. If possible, gently encourage your father to seek godly counsel or deliverance ministry from a trusted pastor or mature believer who can help him walk in freedom. The enemy wants to keep him—and your family—in bondage, but Christ came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). Stand firm in that truth.

We're here with you, lifting your father and your family up in prayer. It's tough seeing a loved one struggle, especially when it's causing pain. But we know that God is greater than any force working against your family.

We're claiming God's promise in Psalm 147:3, that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. We're asking Him to bring healing to your father's heart, mind, and spirit. To clear the confusion, dispel any spirits of darkness, and fill him with His peace and joy.

We're also praying for wisdom for you and your family. That you'd know how to love him well, even in the tough times. That you'd have patience and understanding, and that your father would see Christ's love reflected in your actions.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You with this family's need. We ask that You would heal this father, body, soul, and spirit. Bring clarity where there's confusion, peace where there's turmoil, and joy where there's been pain. We ask that You would reveal any areas of his life not fully surrendered to You, and bring conviction and repentance. We pray for this family, Lord. Give them strength, patience, and wisdom. Help them to love each other well, even when it's hard. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.
